The Johnson High School baseball team knocked off West Hall on Saturday, 14-8, at Johnson.
Blake Stacey earned the win and and led the Knights at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. On the mound, Stacey struck out seven and allowed five hits.
Christian Duguay added a home run, a double and three RBIs for the Knights (2-12, 2-10 Region 7-AAA), Nick Denard had two hits and two RBIs, and Fletcher Whiting had two hits.
Jake Shirley led West Hall (6-7, 4-7) with two hits, while Luis Delgado added a home run.
Johnson plays host to North Hall at 5:30 p.m. today. West Hall returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the Spartans play host to Pickens.
Jefferson 3, Commerce 0
Four Jefferson pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout on Saturday against Commerce in non-region action.
Chris Swancey started and worked 3À innings, striking out five and yielding one hit before giving way to Jamie Sexton, who struck out four in 1Ã innings.
Jake Fields and Chris Beck closed the game, each striking out two in one inning pitched. Beck earned the save. Lucas Redd led the Dragons (12-2, 7-1 Region 8-AA) offense, going 2-for-2. Beck was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Talmadge Green suffered the loss for the Tigers (10-6, 7-1 Region 8-A), despite not allowing just two hits and no earned runs in three innings of work. Chase Barnett had Commerce’s only hit, going 1-for-2.
Jefferson plays host to Oglethorpe County at 5:55 p.m. today. Commerce plays host to Social Circle at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
