The Gainesville boys basketball team held a 10-point lead after the first quarter and held Buford to only seven fourth-quarter points en route to a 79-60 win Saturday night at Buford High.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Red Elephants (3-6).

Junior forward A.J. Johnson led the way for Gainesville with 25 points and seven rebounds.

Quan Holcombe added 14 points, and Ty Redmon and Chris West scored 11 each.

Buford (3-5) was led by T.J. Shipes with 22 points and Payton Wehunt with 13.

Gainesville returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Hall while Buford plays host to Westminster at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

BUFORD GIRLS 65, GAINESVILLE 34
Alysha Rudnik and Sheresse Williams scored 14 points each to lead the Lady Wolves (8-0) to a win Saturday night at Buford High.

Gainesville (4-5) was led by Wake Forest commit Jaymee Carnes and junior shooting guard Mikalyn DeFoor who each scored 14 points.

Buford plays host to Westminster at 6 p.m. Tuesday while Gainesville plays at East Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

LAKEVIEW GIRLS 43, AQUINAS 19
Maddie Haymore led Lakeview with 18 points and Louisa Jacobs added 10 in a win Saturday in Augusta.

The Lady Lions held a 12-point lead going into the fourth quarter and held Aquinas scoreless in the final period.

The Lady Lions return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Tallulah Falls.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 67, LUMPKIN COUNTY 33
The Lady Trojans scored 49 points in the first half en route to a win Saturday in Dahlonega.

Mary Kate Rushton led all scorers, including eight for North Hall, with 22 points. Shakayla Rucker added 11 points for North Hall (10-2, 2-0 Region 7A-AAA) and McKenna Rushton scored 10.

Lumpkin County (0-8, 0-3) was led by Kelsie Smith and Emma Thomaswick with six points each.

North Hall returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when it plays host to Gilmer. Lumpkin County next plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pickens.

WHITE COUNTY BOYS 59, CREEKVIEW 50
Luke Crumley scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Warriors to a win Saturday at White County High.

The Warriors, down by three points at the end of the first quarter, outscored Creekview 21-7 in the second quarter en route to the win.

Ashely Lowery added 10 points for White County (5-5, 1-0 Region 7A-AAA).

Creekview (7-6, 0-1) was led by Duncan Jones with 12 points and A.J. Johnson and Austin Younker who scored 11 each.

White County plays at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chestatee.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 60, LAMBERT 45
Jessica Harper led the Lady Falcons (4-4, 1-1 Region 7B-AAA) with 15 points, while Cash Champion added 14 and Cara Chilton had 10.

NORTH HALL BOYS 73, LUMPKIN COUNTY 47
The Trojans pulled away early, leading 30-12 at halftime en route to a win Saturday in Dahlonega.

Kanler Coker led North Hall (10-2, 1-1 Region 7A-AAA) with 13 points. Chris Barnes and Robby Hill each scored 11.

E.J. Young led the Indians with 21 points.

North Hall plays host to Gilmer at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

EAST HALL BOYS 50, WEST FORSYTH 42
The Vikings took a nine-point lead into halftime and kept the Wolverines at arm’s length the rest of the way for a win Saturday in Cumming.

Chaz Cheeks and Greg Edwards each had nine points to lead East Hall (7-5, 1-1). Fineto Lunguana scored 22 to lead West Forsyth.

East Hall plays host to Gainesville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

EAST HALL GIRLS 49, WEST FORSYTH 46
The Lady Vikings overcame an early deficit to stay unbeaten early in the subregion schedule.

Jasmine Jenkins scored nine points to lead 10 East Hall scorers, while West Forsyth leaned on Megan Whittaker’s 20 points.

East Hall (8-4, 2-0 Region 7B-AAA) plays host to Gainesville at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
