North Hall hit five 3-pointers in the second quarter to take a 9-point halftime lead, but the Trojans could not hold onto the advantage, falling 61-51 to Greater Atlanta Christian in the Region 7-3A tournament semifinal game.
Clark Howell scored 20 points — 13 coming in North Hall’s huge second frame — but it was not enough to slow down the Spartans’ second-half comeback.
After playing neck-and-neck with Greater Atlanta Christian for the first quarter and a half of the game, the Trojans connected on three straight treys — two coming from Howell and one coming from Luke Gunter — to go on top by double-digits midway through the second.
But the Spartans scored the first 8 points of the third period, and reclaimed the lead with a layup with 13 seconds left in the quarter.
North Hall briefly went back in front with a quick 6-0 run early in the fourth, but the offense shut down from there. The Spartans outscored the Trojans 13-3 over the final three minutes of the game to take the lead back for good.
