Prep scoreboard: Patton scores four in North Hall win

North Hall High freshman Tess Patton scored four goals en route to a 7-0 win against Lumpkin County on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Three of Patton’s four goals came in the first 10 minutes of play.

Laura Lane scored once and had two assists, Sarah Carlton had a goal and two assists, and Allie Wright scored once. Bradee Burrell and Meredith Clark each had one assist for North Hall (12-1-1, 10-0 Region 7-AAA).

Mary Mancin and Jordan Shows combined for the Lady Trojans’ 11th shutout of the season.

North Hall plays host to Grady in the first round of the state tournament on Friday, April 25. Lumpkin County’s (5-12, 2-8) season is now complete.

BASEBALL

Flowery Branch 11, White County 6

Bucky Free hit a three-run double and Brad Stone, Patrick Henry and Greg Palmer each had two hits for the Falcons on Wednesday night in Cleveland.

Cody Ackerman picked up the win on the mound for Flowery Branch (17-2, 13-2 Region 7-AAA) and contributed on offense by hitting a double at the plate.

Kevin Frederick, Casey Jones and Luke Crumley each had two hits for the Warriors (11-8, 9-6).

Flowery Branch visits West Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday. White County plays host to North Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

West Hall 17, Johnson 7

Josh Preston was 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and six RBIs for the Spartans on Wednesday night in Oakwood.

Travis Clements was 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and two RBIs, Chan Morris was 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI, Matt Ginn was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Brandlon Grindle hit a double and three RBIs for West Hall (7-12, 6-9 Region 7-AAA).

Matt Boone picked up the win for the Spartans, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts. He was also 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

David Jones was 3-for-4 with a double and Bradley Stephenson was 2-for-3 for the Knights (7-12, 4-11).

West Hall plays host to Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Johnson visits Gilmer at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

GOLF

Dawson County girls 82, Pickens 95, Union County 110

Kasay Holbrook shot a 41 and Charley Whitmire carded a 43 for the Lady Tigers on Wednesday at Big Canoe Golf Course.

Amanda DaJacamo led Pickens with a 45. Morgan Bentley carded at 46 for Union County.

Dawson County (14-1) and Pickens visit Chattahoochee Golf Course today against Gainesville.
