Prep scoreboard: Buford wins two more in Invitational

The Buford High softball team earned two more wins on the season with an 8-2 win against Flowery Branch, and a 19-2 rout against Stephens County in the Buford Invitational on Wednesday in Buford.

Melissa Dickie picked up the win for the Lady Wolves (8-2) against Flowery Branch with four strikeouts and one hit allowed.

Buford’s Alysha Rudnik was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run against the Lady Falcons (6-4, 3-1 Region 7-AAA).

Buford will play host of the medal round at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Chestatee 6, East Hall 4 (Tuesday)

Stephanie Ward pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and no earned runs for the Lady War Eagles on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Kerstin Smith was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Chestatee (2-9, 2-1 Region 7-AAA).

Kayla McDougald pitched a complete game and took the loss for the Lady Vikings (2-6, 0-4 Region 7-AAA). Hannah Strickland and Christina Davis each went 2-for-4, with Strickland scoring three runs.

Chestatee visits Gainesville at 5:55 p.m. today. East Hall visits Gainesville at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.

VOLLEYBALL

North Hall, Lakeview fall to Athens Academy


The Spartans left Lakeview Academy without losing a game, with wins against North Hall (25-23, 25-13) and Lakeview (25-20, 25-19) on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Kathryn Bell had 35 assists and 14 kills for the Lady Trojans (6-5). Evann Rowland added 12 kills.

Emilie Norton had 11 assists for the Lady Lions (5-6, 2-3 Region 8-A) in their loss against North Hall (19-25, 25-16, 25-21).

Lakeview visits Buford at 5 p.m. Tuesday for matches against Buford and Dacula. North Hall visits Flowery Branch at 5 p.m. Tuesday for matches against Flowery Branch, Chestatee and West Hall.
