Prep basketball: Lakeview boys rebound with win

The Lakeview boys basketball team rebounded from a 74-69 loss against Broom (S.C.) High School on Friday night to beat Brevard (N.C.) 91-79 Saturday night in the Battle of the Border Shootout in Landrum, S.C.

David Pruett, who had a game-high 39 including seven 3-pointers Friday night, again led the team with 29 points.

The Lions (6-5) led by only one at halftime but were able to hold Brevard to just nine third-quarter points while scoring 21 themselves to put the game away.

Tyler Ward had 21 points for Lakeview and Jeffrey Gay added 10.

The Lions got scoring contributions from 12 players.

Lakeview returns to action at 8:30 Friday night when it plays host to Social Circle.

Buford girls 62,
Hebron 25

The Lady Wolves used a 53-point first half to put the game away early and take home the Jackson County Jingle Jam Championship on Saturday night.

Blanche Alverson led Buford (8-1) with 17 points while Katie Lynn and Jocelyn Danley added 11 a piece for the Lady Wolves.

Rachel Duvall led Hebron with 15 points.

Buford next plays host to Walker at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Dawson County girls 46, Commerce 37

Amanda Daly and Rachel Biddy led Dawson County with 14 points each in the win Friday night in the WJCC Christmas Tournament at Commerce High.

The Lady Tigers (7-5) scored 16 fourth-quarter points to seal the win.

Dawson County boys 59, Commerce 49
(Friday night)

Zach Cook had a game-high 18 points to lead Dawson County on Friday night in the WJCC Christmas Tournament at Commerce High.

The win marked the fourth victory in a row for Dawson County (7-5).

Robert O’Quinn added 15 points for the Tigers and Nick Fiorentino had 10.
