Lady Vikings upset state-ranked opponent

East Hall girls 56, Gilmer 36

South Carolina signee Sada Wheeler led East Hall (14-5, 3-2 Region 7A-AAA) with 13 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks as the Lady Vikings upset Subregion 7A-AAA’s top team, and the No. 5 ranked team in Class AAA, Friday night in Ellijay.

The Lady Vikings held Gilmer to 17 first-half points, and 19 in the second half.East Hall’s Jessica Blackwell added 13 points, while Tierra Benton finished with 11 points and four rebounds.

East Hall visits Lumpkin County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

East Hall boys 83, Gilmer 49

Ken Wise scored 15 points and added 12 rebounds as the Vikings defeated Gilmer on Friday night in Ellijay.

East Hall’s (15-5, 4-2 Region 7A-AAA) Dedric Ware added 14 points and Trevor Bishop finished with 13.

East Hall visits Lumpkin County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lakeview Academy 99,
Towns County 44

Lakeview held a 40-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, and extended it to 70-28 at halftime, as the Lions (12-7, 5-0 Region 8-A) routed Towns County on Friday night in Hiawassee.

Tyler Ward led Lakeview with 22 points, while David Pruett finished with 17 and Brett Armour added 12.

Lakeview plays host to Prince Avenue at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Towns County girls 44,
Lakeview Academy 38

Sophomore Maddie Haymore led Lakeview with 12 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Lions (7-7, 6-2 Region 8-A) fell to Towns County on Friday night in Hiawassee.

Lakeview plays host to Prince Avenue at 6 p.m. tonight.

Chestatee girls 53,
Lumpkin County 42

Peyton Robertson finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, pacing Chestatee en route to the team’s victory against Lumpkin County on Friday in Gainesville.

Chestatee (9-11, 4-2 Region 7A-AAA) freshman guard Chelsea Wilson added 12 points and senior point guard Kasey Smith finished with 11.

Chestatee plays host to North Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Chestatee boys 66,
Lumpkin County 57

Parker Smith led Chestatee with 33 points, including four 3-pointers as the War Eagles defeated Lumpkin County on Friday night in Gainesville.

Branden Jovaag added 16 points, while Brandon Smith finished with eight.

E.J. Young led Lumpkin County with 21 points.

Chestatee plays host to North Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Johnson girls 54, West Forsyth 50
Jordan Gustavel led all scorers with 25 points Friday night at West Forsyth.


Haley Chapman added 15 for the Lady Knights (4-12, 3-3) who are currently on a two-game winning streak.

Kelsey Baker had 15 for West Forsyth.

Johnson returns to action at 6  tonight when it plays host to West Forsyth.

Johnson boys 63, West Forsyth 48

Brian Sloan and Devaris Finch each scored 13 points for the Knights in their win over West Forsyth on Friday night at West Forsyth.

Mick Shannon added 10 for Johnson.

The Knights next play host to Hart County at 8:30 tonight.

North Hall girls 60,
White County 39

Letiecia Davenport led the Lady Trojans with 17 points, five rebounds and four steals as North Hall (13-6, 4-2 Region 7A-AAA) defeated White County 60-39 Friday night in Gainesville.

Elizabeth Williams finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points, adding 13 assists and recording seven steals.

Anna Porras added a double-double of her own, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Amanda Watkins led the Lady Warriors with 11 points.

North Hall visits West Forsyth at 4 p.m. today, while White County travels to Union County at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

GAC girls 58, Buford 46

Buford held a 31-25 lead at the intermission against Class AA’s top-team, but failed to keep it, as Greater Atlanta Christian outscored the Lady Wolves (15-4, 9-3 Region 6-AA) 17-5 in the final quarter.

Buford’s Blanche Alverson and Joceyln Danely each scored 14 points, while Michelle Godwin added 13.

Buford visits Gainesville at 4 p.m. today.

Gainesville girls 67,
Pickens County 56

Gainesville sophomore forward Jaymee Carnes scored a game-high 22 points and added nine rebounds as Class AAA’s eighth-ranked Lady Red Elephants edged White County on Friday night in Gainesville.

Taylor Ricketts and Loren Thomas each finished with 12 points.

Lindsey Logan led Pickens with 19 points.

Gainesville plays host to Buford at 4 p.m. today.

North Cobb Christian 108,
Riverside 56

Joseph Lister scored a game-high 26 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles as Riverside fell to defending GISA state champion and No. 1-ranked North Cobb Christian on Friday in Kennesaw.

Riverside visits Dominion Christian at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
