For the second straight week, the Johnson High boys soccer team is ranked fourth in the Georgia High School Soccer Coaches Poll, released Sunday. Champions of Region 8-AAA, the Knights (14-3) host Troup County at 4:45 p.m. Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. The Johnson girls (12-3-2) remain ninth and will host Columbus at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Class AAA's defending state champion Gainesville boys fell two spots to No. 7 this week. The Red Elephants (14-3) will host LaGrange at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In Class AA, both the Union County boys and girls came in at No. 10. The Panthers (14-2-1) host Cross Keys at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while the Lady Panthers (13-2-1) visit Greater Atlanta Christian on Thursday at a time to be determined. The Buford boys and girls each remain seventh in Class AA, despite both being eliminated from postseason play.
