The Falcons took 10 of 14 wrestlers to the Class AAAAA East Sectional tournament and have nine still in contention for bids to state after the first day of wrestling at Apalachee High on Friday in Winder.
Zach Winter (138 pounds), Devante King (195) and Brady Dyer (145) won all of their matches to stay alive in the championship bracket going into the final day of the tournament on Saturday.
Ben Horton (126), R.J. Deyton (285), Ronny Couch (113), Nolan Alspach (120), Brady Dyer (145) and Quinton Newman (160), Grant Simonds (182) and Daniel Boddie (132) are all still alive in the wrestlebacks.

Chestatee began the Class AAAA East Sectional at West Laurens High in Dexter yesterday with 11 wrestlers hoping to make it to state. Johnson began the tournament with six in the brackets, and Lumpkin County sent 12 to West Laurens.
Teams in the Class AAA, Class AA and Class A sectionals will wrestle in a one-day tournament beginning at 10 this morning in various locations.
In AAA, North Hall enters the sectional at Morgan County High in Madison with seven wrestlers with the potential to move on to the state tournament including Tyler Kratzer (145), Taylor Marett (106), Michael Carew (120), Tyler Goss (126), David Lush (132), Austin Truelove (138) and Matthew Scavuzzo (152).
East Hall advanced Corey Reece, Will Davidson, Edward Vergara and J.D. Holloway to the sectional tournament, and West Hall sent 152-pounder Elliott Raiford.
CHESTATEE QUALIFIES SIX FOR STATE TOURNAMENT: The War Eagles received wins from six grapplers in the Class AAAA East Sectionals on Friday at West Laurens High, and three that need one win today to advance to the state championships in Macon starting Thursday.
Winning for Chestatee on Friday were Jose Reyes (106), Bart Velasquez (113), Zach Chesire (132), Tommy McCormack (160), Cody Humphries (170) and Grayson Entrekin (195). The final day of the event is Saturday in Dexter.
