HS track: West Hall girls take 8-AAA championship
North Hall boys take second in 8-AAA regional meet

The West Hall girls won the 8-AAA championship on Friday afternoon at Lanier High School, edging Monroe Area, 108-103.

Gainesville finished third and North Hall finished sixth on Friday afternoon at Lanier.

LeNiesha Kearse finished first in the 100 meter hurdles and 300 hurdles for West Hall and eighth in the triple jump. Maia Booker finished second in the long jump, 100 and 200 for the Lady Spartans. Haley Haines captured first place in the high jump for West Hall, Taylor Long finished second in the 3200, Ryan Sharry finished third in the 800 and fourth in the 1600, Beth Hildebrant and Victoria Tuttle tied for fifth in pole vault, and Kerry Ruis finished sixth in the 3200. The Lady Spartans 400 relay team and 1600 relay team finished second.

Sarah Hayes finished first in the 800 and second in the 1600 for the Lady Red Elephants, Stachia Hopkins finished first in the shot put, Tiara Hill finished second in the high jump and Kiki Harris finished second in the pole vault. Gainesville’s 1600 relay team finished third.

Gabrielle Hoffman finished first in pole vault and third in 100 hurdles for the Lady Trojans, Harper Seymour finished second in discus, Victoria Rogers finished third in the 3200, and Katie McDowell finished fourth in the 400.

On the boys side, North Hall finished second overall behind Oconee County, and Gainesville finished fourth behind Monroe Area.

Imani Cross finished first in the shot put for the Trojans, Destin Bennett finished first in discus, Louis Gonzalez finished first in the 3200 and second in the 800, Nate Simon finished second in the triple jump, Tucker Locitero got third in the 3200, Patrick Phappel finished third in shot put, and Whit Nix finished third in 800.

Marquel Woodard finished first in the 800 and second in the 3200 for Gainesville. The Red Elephants 1600 relay team finished first.

Jimmy Gault finished fourth for West Hall in the 1600 and Jason McCurdy finished fourth in the 400.
