The Lakeview Academy girls topped defending Class A state champion Hebron Christian in penalty kicks on Tuesday. Tied at 3-each in penalty kicks, Ansley Rochester made a save for the Lady Lions (5-3, 1-0 Region 8-A), then freshman Reece Johnson kicked it in for Lakeview on its next shot to preserve the victory. The score was tied 2-all after regulation.
Trailing 1-0 in the first half, Carmen Wagner scored on a corner kick from Bree Bell to tie it up. Then a few minutes later, Meredith Tucker kicked it in off a corner kick from Bell.
Then in PKs, Tucker, Wagner and Emma Reinhardt all make free kicks for Lakeview.
Lakeview Academy faces Providence Christian at 5 p.m. Friday.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 1, HEBRON ACADEMY 0: Andrew Miller Bell put the Lions (3-3-1, 1-0 Region 8-A) ahead for good five minutes into the second half Tuesday with a 25-yard strike.
Ben Eades had 14 saves in goal for Lakeview for the shutout.
The Lions host Providence Christian Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 0, LANIER 0 (3-1 PENALTY KICKS): The Falcons picked up a victory over Lanier Tuesday, earning the win on penalty kicks.
Alexis Jimenez, Jason Acosta and Luis Gonzalez each made their penalty kick for Flowery Branch.
Falcons keeper Chewy Alvarado saved two penalty kicks.
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 7, OCONEE COUNTY 1: Alyssa Turner picked up her third straight hat trick Tuesday as the Lady Red Elephants improved to 6-1, 3-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.
Aneesa Jones and Taylor Buffington each notched a pair of goals.
Gainesville will play at Winder-Barrow Friday with a 5:30 p.m. kick.
Baseball
ST. FRANCIS 5, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 3: Logan Barwick went 2 for 3 for the Lions on Tuesday in Alpharetta.
Peyton Solinsky, Rett Kinsey and Rob Hamby each had an RBI.
Lakeview Academy (3-4) visits Chestatee today at 5:55 p.m.
JACKSON COUNTY 3, OCONEE COUNTY 2 (8 INNINGS): Jeremy Cook pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief Tuesday to pick up the win for Jackson County (4-3-1, 1-0 8-AAA).
Chris Griggs was 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of runs scored.
Also for the Panthers, Andrew Miller and Joel Ellis were each 1 for 4. Miller scored a run and Ellis provided two RBIs.
The Panthers will play Friday against Oconee County in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
Golf
GAINESVILLE GIRLS TOP FLOWERY BRANCH: The Lady Red Elephants bested the Lady Falcons 135-155 in eight holes Tuesday at Chateau Elan.
Ashleigh Bishop, Julianna Towns, Vivian Robinson and Lauren Pudenz led the way for the Lady Red Elephants.
Gainesville will host Buford and White County at 4 p.m. today at the Chattahoochee Golf Club.
BANKS COUNTY GIRLS WIN TRI-MATCH: The Leopards shot a 141 to defeat Stephens County (159) and Jackson County (163) on nine holes Tuesday at Chimney Oaks Golf Course.
Morgan Rylee shot a low score of 40. Emily Coker shot a 48 and Andrea Harris finished with a 53.
Banks County will next play Friday at Highland Walk.

GAINESVILLE BOYS AND GIRLS WIN: Both Gainesville teams swept West Hall, 5-0, on Tuesday in Oakwood.
The boys and girls host Discovery High today at 4 p.m.
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 5, SOCIAL CIRCLE 0: The Eagles (2-2, 1-0 Region 8-A) picked up victories in all three singles matches and both doubles matches to blank Social Circle Tuesday.
Sipho Khoza (6-0, 6-0), Sibu Khoza (6-0, 6-1) and Max Meehok (6-1, 6-0) all won their singles matches.
In doubles, Paul Popovich/Russell Bolton (6-2, 6-3) and Brayden Lawson/Josue Calderon (6-0, 6-1) earned doubles victories.
JOHNSON GIRLS 4, MADISON COUNTY 1: The Lady Knights improved to 4-1 Tuesday, picking up a pair of singles wins and both doubles victories as well.
Aly Groover won the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-3. Sloane Sengson won the No. 3 singles match by the same scores.
Kaitlyn Houston/Julia Kay Mallory (No. 1 doubles) and Perla Rivera/Ariana Granski (No. 2 doubles) both won 6-1, 6-0.
BUFORD BOYS 5, CHESTATEE 0: The Wolves (3-1, 2-1 8-AAAA) shutout the War Eagles Tuesday with Dalton Count, Cameron Deloach and Kurt Knudsen picking up singles victories.
Garrett Jordan/Luke Davidson and Cole Tarleton/Trent Milton were good for doubles wins.
Buford travels to Monroe Area today with a 4 p.m. start.
BUFORD GIRLS 5, CHESTATEE 0: Bailey McCannon, Kenzie Walters and Maria Jose Serreyros all won their singles matches Tuesday as the Lady Wolves (4-0, 3-0 8-AAAA) swept the Lady War Eagles.
Doubles teams of Peyton Wolfe/Katie Quinn and Tamia Wayne/Emma Place finished with wins as well.
