North Hall baseball defeats Flowery Branch in nine-inning showdown

The Gainesville High baseball team defeated North Forsyth, 5-4, on an RBI double by Collier Scott to score his brother Marshall in the eighth inning on Friday.

The Red Elephants didn’t give up any earned runs, but errors in the first inning forced them to have to mount the comeback.

Collier Scott pitched five innings with two strikeouts and Noah Bond threw three innings with five strikeouts. Banks Griffith had two hits and two RBIs.

Gainesville (3-0) hosts Jefferson at 1 p.m. today.

NORTH HALL 4, FLOWERY BRANCH 3: Trojans pitcher Drew Atha earned the win in relief as North Hall won in nine innings on Friday.

Austin Adams, Jackson Latty and John Mark Montgomery each had an RBI for North Hall.

Flowery Branch pitcher Jackson Harrell had six strikeouts in four innings and Dalton Strickland went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

North Hall (2-2) plays North Forsyth today at 4:30 p.m., while Flowery Branch (1-3) hosts Chestatee 5:55 p.m. on Monday.

EAST HALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST MEADOWCREEK: The Vikings picked up 18-1 and 12-4 victories over Meadowcreek during Friday’s doubleheader in Gainesville.

East Hall scored 16 runs in the second inning of Game 1, including a Jonah Crocker homer. Jesse Cooper had two hits, while Eli Stuart had three hits. Cole Smith earned the win, pitching three innings and striking out five batters.

In Game 2, the Vikings overcame a 3-0 deficit to erupt for eight runs in the fifth inning. Stuart earned the win by throwing five innings in relief, striking out nine batters and adding two hits and three RBIs.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 3, JOHNSON 0: Alyssa Turner had two goals and an assist on Friday.

Taylor Buffington scored the first goal for the Red Elephants, while Madi Lochstampfor and Breana Fair each had an assist.

Gainesville (3-1) visits Cedar Shoals on Tuesday.

JOHNSON BOYS 3, GAINESVILLE 2: Fabian Abarca scored a hat-trick, including the game-winning penalty kick, to top the Red Elephants Friday at Johnson High.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 1, FLOWERY BRANCH 0: Carmen Wagner scored the lone goal in the first half on Friday.

Lady Lions’ goalkeeper Ansley Rochester recorded her third shutout of the season.

Lakeview Academy (4-1) hosts Mount Pisgah on Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 3, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 1: Cameron Shreeram scored the lone goal for the Lions (2-2-1) on Friday. Andrew Miller Bell was credited with the assist.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 4, MONROE AREA 1: Jenna McConnell and Joanna Dickson won in singles, while Ireland Stackhouse and Dorothy Creamer and Callyssa Tyner and Megan Freeman won in doubles.

CHESTATEE BOYS 3, MONROE AREA 2: Hasten Haynes and Barron King won in singles, and Andrew Hathcock and Cameron Lewis picked up the win in doubles.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 5, ATHENS CHRISTIAN 0: Alex Amato, Braxton Ledford and Alex Vickery earned wins in singles for the Leopards on Thursday.

Gabe Martin and Luke Schaefer and Hunter Payne and Stetson Boswell were victorious in doubles.
