Bearden scores 21 as the undefeated Lady Tigers advance to semifinals of Bulldog Christmas Classic

Dawson County senior Karlie Bearden recorded her 1,000th career point in the Lady Tigers 54-45 win over Athens Christian Monday at the Bulldog Christmas Classic in Monroe.

Bearden finished with a team-high 21 points. Lady Tigers teammates Haley Burgess tallied 13 points and Kaylee Sticker added nine.

Dawson County (11-0) plays Prince Avenue 4 p.m. today in the semifinals at George Walton Academy.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 42, ATHENS CHRISTIAN 25: The Tigers defense clamped down on Athens Christian early, holding them to only a single point in the first quarter Monday at the Bulldog Christmas Classic in Monroe.

Dawson County sophomore Jeremiah Crumley led all scorers with 24 points. Gabe Bryant scored eight points and Cullen Reed added seven for the Tigers.

Dawson County (6-5) plays Prince Avenue at 5:30 p.m. today in the semifinals at George Walton Academy.

BUFORD GIRLS 59, BANNEKER 28: The Lady Wolves improve to 7-3 with a 31-point victory in the Grayson Ram Classic behind Zikaya Wright’s 11 points.

Audrey Weiner and Marissa Bruce both contributed 10 points.

Buford plays Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. today at Grayson High.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 62, WEST OAK (SC) 34: Gabby Kennedy totaled 13 points to led the Leopards Monday at the Commerce Christmas Classic.

Senior guard Morgan Rylee contributed nine points.

Banks County (8-4) plays Heritage at 4 p.m. today in Commerce.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 63, LOGANVILLE 40: The Leopards’ Kahmal Wiley recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds Monday night at the Commerce Christmas Classic.

Senior Trevae Cain netted 11 points, Zez Steeple added nine and Zac Orr had a big day on the glass with 20 rebounds to go along with six points.

Banks County (11-1) next plays Madison County 5:30 p.m. today at Commerce High.
