HS playoff scoreboard: East Hall trounces Dade County 90-73
Buford, Dawson County to face in second round in Class AA

East Hall's J.C. Hampton scored a season-high 40 points and Hayden Chapman added 16 in a 90-73 first round playoff win against Dade County on Saturday in Trenton.

With the win, the Vikings (22-7) travels to Manchester (19-2) in the second-round Wednesday.

Brian Edwards added nine points for East Hall, which led Saturday's game 23-13 after the first quarter of play.

Leading 42-31 at halftime, the Vikings stormed ahead by outscoring Dade County 27-12 in the third period.

With the win, it marks the third consecutive season that East Hall has won its playoff opener. Dade County's season is now complete.

DAWSON COUNTY 54, CALHOUN 52: Gunnar Armstrong led the Tigers (24-6) with 16 points and Jonathan Sanderson added 12 in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs in Dawsonville.

The win marked the program's first home playoff win in school history.

Bruce Clark had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Dawson County, which will play host to Buford in the second round Wednesday in Dawsonville, tip time still to be determined.

A close game throughout, Dawson County led 10-7 after the first quarter and 22-15 at halftime.

By the end of the third quarter, Calhoun had cut the lead down to 35-31.

Ben Lamb led Calhoun with 21 points and Grayson Arnold had 12. The Yellow Jackets' season is now complete with an 11-19 record.

BUFORD 79, SPENCER 60: T.J. Shipes led all scorers with 33 points and the Wolves rallied from an early 10-point deficit to take down Spencer on Saturday in Buford.

With the win the Wolves (22-7) will face Dawson County on Wednesday in Dawsonville, tip time still to be determined.
