Flowery Branch High softball coach Laura Beaver announced Thursday she was stepping down from her position she held for 11 seasons, which was made public in a press release from Hall County director of communications and athletics Stan Lewis. During her career with the Lady Falcons and St. Pius X prior to that, Beaver amassed a 251-197 record.

At Flowery Branch, Beaver guided Flowery Branch to the playoffs each season from 2014-2018.

She will continue to teach at Flowery Branch going forward.

Upon her resignation from the coaching position, Flowery Branch athletics director Jimmy Lawler immediately tapped assistant coach Blake Cagle as the new head of the program.

“Blake has been a solid assistant coach,” Lawler said. “He has the organizational skills, vision and leadership to continue the tradition of excellence that has been so prevalent in our softball program through the years.

“We have complete confidence is his abilities.”

In nine years with the program, Cagle has served as junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach.
