High school scoreboard: West Hall pulls through in extra innings

West Hall’s Madison Strickland drove in Victoria Tuttle in the eighth inning en route to a 1-0 win against Lumpkin County on Monday in Oakwood.

Emily Hammond had nine strikeouts and only allowed one hit to pick up the win in the circle for the Lady Spartans. Lady Indians starter Katie Copeland also pitched well six strikeouts and allowed just four hits.

West Hall (16-10, 8-2 Region 7-AAA) visits North Hall at 5:55 tonight in Gainesville.

WHITE COUNTY 7, GAINESVILLE 1: Stephanie Satterfield went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Lady Warriors to the win on Monday at the Lanier Point Softball Complex.

Satterfield (11-4) also picked up the win in the pitching circle for White County (15-6, 10-2 Region 7-AAA).

Aubrie Gstalder went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Lady Warriors, and Heather Herdliska went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

White County starts play in the Region 7-AAA tournament on Monday.

BUFORD 5, BLESSED TRINITY 0: Karly Fullem (7-2) got the win for Class AA’s top-ranked Buford with eight strikeouts against Blessed Trinity on Monday in Roswell.

Chelsie Thomas went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored to lead the Lady Wolves (14-4, 4-0 Region 6-AA) at the plate.

Buford’s Lexi Overstreet went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Samantha Ramey went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Kodi Ricketson went 2-for-3.

Buford visits Lovett in the regular season finale at 5 p.m. tonight in Atlanta.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Jackson County girl’s cross country team won a four-team meet at Madison County High School Thursday in Danielsville.

Jackson County’s Brittany Aikens placed first overall and Sydney Baird finished second for the Lady Panthers.

Jackson County senior Lexi Miller finished fifth overall, Katie Maiolo finished seventh, Mary Collin finishing eighth and Susie Diesch finished 10th.

Austin Moser led the Jackson County boys to a second place finish by placing sixth individually. John Florentine finished seventh overall and Miguel Guereca ninth.

Jackson County’s cross country teams visit Banks County on Oct. 6 in Homer.
