The West Hall girls basketball team defeated Pace Academy 49-44 in the East Jackson tournament on Saturday in Commerce. Jayla Moon, a senior, scored 17 to lead the Lady Spartans (1-1) and Bailey Soucie added 12.

West Hall trailed by 8 at halftime, but managed to outscore Pace Academy 12-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

West Hall faces Hart County at 7 p.m. on Monday in Commerce.

West Hall boys 75, Pace Academy 52

The Spartans had four scorers in double figures en route to victory in the opening round of the East Jackson tournament on Saturday in Commerce. Terrell Penland scored 14 to lead the way for West Hall (2-0).

Marquise Stephens (13 points), Kavon Williams (13) and Shunquez Stephens (11) also finished in double digits scoring for the Spartans.

The Spartans put the game away in the third quarter by outscoring Pace Academy 17-3.

West Hall faces Hart County in the second round at 8:30 p.m. on Monday in Commerce.

East Hall girls 79, Lumpkin County 68

Kayneshia Maddox led the Lady Vikings (1-0) with 16 points, five rebounds and six blocks on Saturday night. Jasmine Jenkins added 15 points and three assists, and Haley Chapman scored 10 for East Hall. The Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Indians 26-18 in the third quarter.

Ashley Brown scored a game-high 27 and Cara Malone added 24 for Lumpkin County.

East Hall plays host to Milton at 6 p.m. next Saturday.

Milton girls 65, Chestatee 46

Lady War Eagles sophomore Peyton Robertson scored 15 points with 12 rebounds on Saturday at Chestatee. Chelsea Wilson scored seven points for Chestatee (1-1), and Tiffani Poole added six.

Milton opened the game to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter, and extended its lead to 31-22 going into halftime.

Chestatee plays host to Gainesville at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Milton boys 77, Chestatee 50

The Eagles jumped to a 27-5 lead after one quarter en route to victory on Saturday night in Gainesville.

Branden Jovaag led the War Eagles with 21 points and Andrew Gibson added 10.

Julian Royal led Milton with 26 points and P.J. Williams added 15.

Chestatee plays host to Gainesville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hart County girls 58, North Hall 48

The North Hall girls were outscored 24-7 in the fourth quarter in the East Jackson tournament on Saturday in Commerce. McKenna Rushton and Taylor Tate each finished with 10 points for the Lady Trojans (0-1).

North Hal faces Pace Academy at 4 p.m. on Monday in the East Jackson tournament.

Monroe Area 72, Johnson 67

Devaris Finch scored 19 and Chris Henry added 15 for the Knights (0-1) on Saturday night at the East Jackson tournament in Commerce. Quintavious Cheek (14 points), Brandon Finch (11) and Tre Dudley (10) were also in double digits scoring for the Knights.

Maritae Duke led the Purple Hurricanes with 24 points. Monroe Area pulled out the victory by outscoring Johnson 24-17 in the fourth quarter.

Johnson faces an opponent still to be determined at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the East Jackson tournament.
