High school scoreboard: Trojans survive scare

The North Hall High baseball team survived a four-run, seventh-inning rally by Gilmer to hold off the Bobcats and win 7-6 on Tuesday at Jody Davis Field.

K.J. McAllister was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for North Hall (10-9, 10-7 Region 7-AAA). Trey Pinson and Ryan Pitts each had two hits and Nate Strong added an RBI.

Chris Stevens pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn the win for the Trojans. North Hall visits Creekview at 5:55 p.m. today.

Flowery Branch 11, Pickens 3

Matt Pilgrim struck out eight hitters in five innings to lead the Falcons on Tuesday at Hog Mountain Sports Complex in Flowery Branch.

James Wilson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Flowery Branch (13-4, 12-4 Region 7-AAA). Corey Sanderson and James Mills each added two hits for the Falcons.

Flowery Branch visits White County at 5:30 p.m. today.

GOLF

Flowery Branch boys 174, Buford 175, Dawson County 188


Garhett Gentry shot a 39 and Ben Yu carded at 42 to lead the Falcons to a win Tuesday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Buford was led by Patrick Hall’s 39 and Sam Gentry’s 43. Nick Fitz led Dawson County with a 40, followed by Matt Christopher’s 43.

Flowery Branch participates in the Region 7-AAA Tournament at 8 a.m. April 23 at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Dawson County girls 84, Buford 96,  Flowery Branch 119

Katie Stowers shot a 41 and Charley Whitmire carded a 43 for the Lady Tigers in a tri-match win Tuesday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Buford’s Abby Johnson was the low-medalist of the day, shooting a 40 for the Lady Wolves.

Dawson County (8-3) visits Lumpkin County at 4 p.m. today at Achasta Golf Course. Buford plays in the Region 6-AA Tournament on Monday. Flowery Branch participates in the Region 7-AAA Tournament at 8 a.m. Apr. 22 at Big Canoe Golf Course in Jasper.

Gainesville girls 98, Forsyth Central 111, North Hall 119

Camryn Cole was the low medalist of the day with a 40 to lead the Lady Red Elephants on Tuesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course. Susan Frobos carded a 56 for Gainesville. Amy Lewis led North Hall with a 59.

TENNIS

Flowery Branch girls 3, West Hall 2


After Jennica Ramey and Morgan Ruiz won in singles, the team of Lindsey Shaw and Morgan Reed clinched the team win in doubles for the Lady Falcons on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Kaylin Walters and the team of Chelsea Britt and Alex Wright won for West Hall. Both teams participate in the Region 7-AAA Tournament Thursday.

North Hall boys 4, Lumpkin County 1

The Trojans swept doubles play with wins from Michael Franze/Charlie Hortenstine and Scott Swanson/Isaac Black on Tuesday at North Hall High.

Clayton Nedza and Mitch McCray won singles for North Hall (9-7, 8-3 Region 7A-AAA), each in straight sets.

Will Jarrard won in singles for Lumpkin County.

North Hall girls 3, Lumpkin County 2

The Lady Trojans secured second place in Region 7A-AAA with a win Tuesday at North Hall High.

Cara Reece and Jessica Butts each won in singles play for the Lady Trojans. The team of Rachel Langman and Gay Anne Agnew won in doubles for North Hall.
