Emily Crocker pitched a perfect game in the Buford softball team’s 10-0 five-inning victory over Monroe Area on Thursday in Monroe. The senior struck out five batters and improved her record to 3-0 in the circle this season.
The Wolves (20-1, 6-0 Region 8-AAAA) supported Crocker with 13 hits. Remington Hasty led the way, going 3 for 3 with a two-run home run, double, two RBIs and two runs. Baylee Sexton went 2 for 3 with an inside-the-park home run and two RBIs, Jordan Deep went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and two runs, and Sydney Stavro went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base.
Buford resumes play in the Elite Sports Classic tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday, taking on Jones County at North Gwinnett High in Suwanee.
MEELER, TROJANS BEAT WAR EAGLES: Hannah Meeler tossed a complete game for North Hall in a 10-4 victory against county rival Chestatee on Thursday. Meeler had five strikeouts.
Carson McCormack went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for North Hall, which had Kaitlin Edwards and Harper Seymour each go 2 for 4 with an RBI. Michaela Young contributed a double and an RBI.
GAINESVILLE DEFEATS CEDAR SHOALS: Gainesville pitcher Kayla Street struck out 15 batters in a complete game, two-hitter to lead the Red Elephants’ 4-1 win against Cedar Shoals on Thursday. Whitney Ledford led the way at the plate for Gainesville with three hits, an RBI and a run. Gainesville (14-10, 3-5 Region 8-AAAAA) hosts Salem at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
PARSON THROWS COMPLETE GAME: Mallory Parson threw a seven-inning shutout and hit three singles to lead Banks County to a 5-0 win against East Hall on Thursday evening.
Parson struck out five batters in her complete game. Kaitlyn Stewart helped the Leopards (16-5, 9-1 in Region 7-AAA) by contributing a single, a double and two RBIs.
Banks County hosts Dawson County next Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
GAINESVILLE TAKES 2 VICTORIES: The Gainesville volleyball team defeated Salem 25-11, 25-14 and beat Johnson 25-12, 25-10.
Against Salem, Sydney King had nine digs and Sydney Calkins added two aces and eight service points. Bethany Whitenton contributed four aces, six service points and seven kills, with Savannah Roys supplying two aces, four service points and eight assists.
In the win versus Johnson, King totaled seven service points and seven digs, and Whitenton tallied three service points and nine kills.
Gainesville (19-11) plays Loganville and Apalachee on Tuesday at Loganville.
EAST HALL GOES 1-1 AGAINST MONROE AREA, APALACHEE: The East Hall Lady Vikings earned a 25-16, 25-14 victory over Monroe Area before head coach Ted Deppe’s team lost to Apalachee (21-25, 15-25).
Minette Maldonado had 14 points on serve with three aces, seven kills, 12 digs and two assists, while Allyson Segars added 11 points on serve and four aces. Savannah Lindsey and Cassida Shockley combined to contribute 14 points on serve with 31 digs.
The Lady Vikings (34-7) travel to region foe Fannin County next Tuesday with matches starting at 5 p.m.
JOHNSON SPLITS TWINBILL: The Johnson Knights’ volleyball team defeated Salem (25-18, 14-25, 25-19) before falling to Gainesville (25-12, 25-10) Thursday night.
Grace Eidson scored four aces and made 11 assists on the evening, and Jessica Panter and Julia Bowers combined for six kills, four digs and a block.
Johnson (10-24) plays at home against Chestatee next Tuesday.
