The Gainesville High volleyball team beat Lumpkin County 25-9, 25-16 and Johnson 25-15, 21-25, 25-18 on Thursday.
Leading Gainesville were Lauren Carter with nine digs and Kaylin Walden with 12 aces and 11 assists.

Johnson’s Savanna Turk had five kills and four digs on the night and a win versus Lumpkin County 25-22, 25-5. In the Lady Knights’ loss to Gainesville

Sophia Love had seven aces, four assists, and 14 straight points in serves against Lumpkin County for Johnson.

The Lady Knights (4-8, 0-2 Region 8-AAA) travel to Lanier at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Gainesville (12-5 overall, 2-0 Region 8-AAA) hosts a tri-match at 5 p.m. with Lanier and Meadowcreek on Thursday.

EAST HALL WINS TWO MATCHES: The Lady Vikings had two wins versus Tallulah Falls; 25-21, 25-20 and 25-14, 27-25, the second of which was played as a non-region match.

Kara Hix had four aces, five kills, five digs and one assists for the Lady Vikings to go along with Emily Hoggard’s eight kills, one assist, one dig and two blocks.

East Hall plays Saturday in the Athens/Oconee Spiketacular.

NORTH GEORGIA DROPS FIRST OF SEASON: North Georgia Christian lost their first volleyball game of 2011 in five sets on the road to Loganville Christian. Loganville Christian won 25-13, 23-25, 22-25, 25-23, and 15-11.

The Lady Chargers (3-1) will play at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Colonial Hills Christian.

BUFORD LOSSES TWO IN TRI-MATCH: Maggie Roper had 18 kills, 14 digs, and six assists in a losing effort againstRoswell 9-25, 25-21, 13-25 and host Lambert 23-25, 22-25.

Jessica Saletta had 10 kills and 14 digs for the Lady Wolves, while Bailey Hicks had 28 assists and 12 digs.

Buford plays Grayson at North Gwinnett at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

JEFFERSON SPLITS TRI-MATCH: Amanda Daniel had four kills, 43 assists and four digs to lead the Lady Dragons to victory on Thursday in Dacula.

Jefferson’s Taylor Cramsey added 29 kills and one ace.

The Lady Dragons play at home at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

NORTH HALL WINS ONE IN TRI-MATCH: The Lady Trojans posted a victory against Flowery Branch 25-18, 25-19 and fell to Heritage 25-19, 25-23 on Thursday.

North Hall’s Kristina Gregory had nine assists, five aces and three kills.

Sarah Paschall had 25 digs, two blocks, three assists for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall plays next on Wednesday at Lanier.

LAKEVIEW TAKES ONE IN TRI-MATCH: Jamie Nixon, Mona Abraham, and Lindsey Brock each had seven kills for the Lady Lions on Thursday in a win agianst East JAckson 20-25, 25-17, 25-15. Lakeview’s Molly Gay added 11 assists.

In thier second match, the Lady Lions lost to Hart County 27-25, 25-12. Nixon had five kills and Megan McIntire had three assists for Lakeview.

The Lady Lions (8-6, 1-1 Region 8-A) play travel to Jackson County at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Softball

BUFORD 6, BLESSED TRINITY 2: Callie Case went 4 for 4 with a double, triple, home run, an RBI, stolen base, and scored four runs to lead the Wolves offense to victory on Thrusday night in Buford. The Wolves have now won 27 straight Region 8-AA games, dating back to October of 2007.

Tessa Daniels (3-1) was the winning pitcher after giving up four hits during her complete game for the Wolves.
Buford’s Rebekah Rude had a 2 for 4 night with 2 RBIs.

The Wolves (6-6) play at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Buford Invitational against St. Pius X.

JACKSON COUNTY 7, EAST JACKSON 1: Haley Shinall gave up one hit and had 11 strikeouts in the Lady Panthers win.

Shinall also went 2 for 3 with one run scored and an RBI.

Jackson County’s Victoria Fontana went 3 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

With the win the Lady Panthers improve to an overall record of 8-2 (4-0 in Region 8-AA).

The Lady Panthers (8-2, 4-0) will host North Oconee on Tuesday.

JEFFERSON 3, NORTH OCONEE 2: Savannah Snapp struck out four and got the win for the Lady Dragons Thursday night agaisnt North Oconee, the No. 4 ranked team in Class AA.

Jefferson (6-11, 4-1 Region 8-AA) hosts Oglethrope County at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

WHITE COUNTY 3, STEPHENS COUNTY 1: Callie McDonald picked up the win in the pitching circle for the Lady Warriors with a complete game and seven strikeouts.

White County’s Morgan Jacobson went 4 for 4 with two doubles and Morgan Sullens went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
The Lady Warriors play North Hall at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
