Riverside Military’s tennis team topped Lakeview Academy 3-2 Monday as the two squared off on the Lions’ home court.
Riverside’s Sipho Khoza earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Lakeview’s Jonathan Kerwin and Josue Calderson/Brayden Lawson defeated William Ball/Tyler Grabau (6-4, 7-5) to lead the Eagles (4-2) in this crosstown rivalry on Monday.
Lakeview’s Brooks Hylton defeated Sibu Khoza (6-1, 7-5) and Avery Jackson/Jonathan Schaefer shutout Paul Popovich/Russell Bolton (6-0, 6-0) to tie the match at two, but Riverside’s Max Meehok won by forfeit in the third and final singles match.
Lakeview Academy (5-1) visits Tallulah Falls today.
Baseball
NORTH OCONEE 6, CHESTATEE 5: The War Eagles were able to get three on the board in the seventh inning, but were unable to pull out the victory Monday.
Sean Irick led Chestatee with a single, an RBI triple and a run scored. Cameron Wilson had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, which scored Irick.
Up next, the War Eagles play Johnson in Oakwood at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday in a region matchup.
Lacrosse
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 13, GAINESVILLE 6: Ethan Cobb netted four goals for the Eagles Monday as Ben Turner, Sheymus Maloney and Gage Roth all added a pair of goals each.
Riverside will look to pick up a school record sixth win at home Thursday against Druid Hills.
