High school scoreboard: Popham leads Chestatee girls to win against Jackson County

Chestatee’s Brooklyn Popham scored 21 points in a 45-39 overtime win against Jackson County on Friday.

With the win, the Lady War Eagles extend their stay unbeaten at 8-0. Chestatee and Jackson County were tied at 39-39 at the end of regulation. In overtime, the Lady War Eagles scored 6-0 in extra time.

Chestatee plays Johnson at 1 p.m. in Gainesville today.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS, 65 MONTICELLO 62: Banks County’s Taylor Parson scored the game-winning basket in overtime to give the Lady Leopards a Region 8-AAA win against Monticello. Parson finished the night with nine points.

Gabby Kennedy led Banks County (4-2, 1-0 Region 8-AAA) in scoring with 22 points. Kennedy was 10 of 12 from the free throw line.

Banks County plays East Hall at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Gainesville.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 57 MONTICELLO 52: Banks County defeated the No. 2 Monticello in Class AA in Homer. Kahmal Wiley recorded a double-double of 27 points and 16 rebounds for the Leopards. Dylan Orr added 11 points and five rebounds for Banks County (3-3).

Banks County plays East Hall at 8:30 p.m. tonight in Gainesville.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 70, COMMERCE GIRLS 28: Hanna Grogan scored 19 points in a Region 8-A win against Commerce. Jackie Allen finished the night with 10 points for Lakeview Academy (6-2, 2-0 Region 8-A).

Lakeview Academy hosts Athens Christian at 6 p.m. today in Gainesville.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 94, COMMERCE 34: Adam Cottrell led the Lions in scoring with 18 points in the road win. Tre Gober had 17 for Lakeview Academy (5-1, 2-0 Region 8-A). Drew Cottrell finished with 13 points, while teammate Josh Randolph added 11 for the Lions as well.

Lakeview Academy hosts Athens Christian at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Gainesville.

GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 66, DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 34: Anna Lowe scored a team-high 11 points for the Lady Tigers in a Region 7-AAA loss to Greater Atlanta Christian on Thursday. Dawson County now falls to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in region play.

Dawson County hosts Lumpkin County at 6 p.m. in Dawsonville on Monday.

EAST HALL GIRLS 56, NORTH HALL GIRLS 53: East Hall’s Kylah Mize led her team in scoring with 26 points.

Macy Thomas put up 15 while, teammate Carly Winters scored 14 for the Lady Vikings (4-3, 2-0 Region 7-AAA)
Sadie Cleveland led the way for the Lady Trojans (3-4, 0-2 Region 7-AAA) with 15 points.

North Hall plays East Jackson at 8:30 p.m. tonight in Commerce. East Hall hosts Banks County at 7 p.m. tonight for the Valhalla Classic in Gainesville.

WEST HALL GIRLS 72, GRAYSON GIRLS 47: Anna Mckendree had 37 points to lead the Lady Spartans (3-3). Macy Passmore was not far behind with 15 points.

West Hall hosts Lithonia at 2 p.m. today in Oakwood.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 60 CEDAR SHOALS GIRLS 33: Taniyah Worth posted 18 points to lead the Lady Falcons to their second Region 8-AAAAA victory of the year. Lexie Sengkhammee finished the night with 12 points for the Lady Falcons (8-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAA) as well.

Flowery Branch hosts Loganville at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

CEDAR SHOALS BOYS 63 FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 50: Three starters amassed double figures, Justin Quick scoring 21 points in a Region 8-AAAAA loss. Brannon Clark had 15 points, while John Mills finished the night with 12 for Flowery Branch (6-1, 1-1 Region 8-AAAAA).

Flowery Branch plays Loganville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
