The Buford softball team lost its second extra-inning game to Greater Atlanta Christian in as many days, this time 3-2, ending their streak of consecutive Region 8-AA titles at three.

The only runs came off the bat of Lexi Overstreet, as she homered twice and set a new school record for home runs in a season and career.

Bria Bush was the losing pitcher and had six strikeouts.

The Lady Wolves (25-10) have qualified for the Class AA state tournament and will host the No. 3 seed from Region 5-AA on Wednesday.

Volleyball

LADY CHARGERS WIN AGAIN: North Georgia Christian defeated the visiting Lady Rams from Colonial Hills Christian Academy (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) on Thursday.

The Lady Chargers will play Horizon Christian Academy in Cumming on Tuesday.

NORTH HALL MOVES ON: The Lady Trojans beat Monroe Area (29-27, 25-18) on Thursday in the 8-AAA region tournament.

McKenna Rushton had six kills, two blocks, two digs and an ace, while Kristina Gregory had 12 assists for North Hall.

The Lady Trojans' Sarah Paschall had 10 digs, two kills and two blocks.

North Hall continues play in the region tournament against Oconee at 9 a.m. on Saturday in Watkinsville.

LADY FALCONS ADVANCE TO SATURDAY: Flowery Branch beat Loganville (26-24, 25-15) Thursday in the 8-AAAA region tournament at Habersham Central in Mount Airy.

Bethany Mann served well to help the Lady Falcons get out of the first game and tallied four aces on the night.
Kenzie Grewett had 15 assists and three kills for Flowery Branch.

The Lady Falcons (22-14) will play again at 10 a.m. on Saturday against the winner of Habersam Central and Clark Central.

WEST HALL TO QUARTERFINALS: The Lady Spartans won their first game in the 8-AAA Region Tournament Thursday in Watkinsville against Eastside (25-18, 25-17).

Laykin Hereford had 29 assists and Tonya Bennett had 12 kills and five aces for West Hall.

With the win the Lady Spartans (33-5) tied the school record for wins. They play Gainesville at 9 a.m. on Saturday in Watkinsville.

LADY DRAGONS STAY PERFECT: Jefferson remained unbeaten in the 8A/AA Region Tournament with a win over George Walton (25-17, 27-29, 26-24) on Thursday night at East Hall.

Amanda Daniel had 28 assists, four kills and a block, and Taylor Cramsey 16 kills, three aces and one assist, block and dig for the Lady Dragons.

Jefferson plays at 11 a.m. on Saturday versus Athens Academy at East Hall.

GAINEVILLE TOPS JOHNSON: Gainesville beat Johnson (25-27, 25-16, 25-15) in the 8-AAA Region Tournament on Thursday in Watkinsville.

Kaylin Walden recorded 36 assists for the Lady Red Elephants. Anna Walker had 17 kills and Katelyn Whelchel four aces for Gainesville.

The Lady Red Elephants (22-10, 5-3 Area 8-AAA) play West Hall in Watkinsville at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
