White County’s Jenna Gearing broke a four-year-old course record at the Mountain Invitational at Unicoi State Park on Thursday in Helen, winning the girls race with a time of 18 minutes, 49 seconds. Witt Nix of North Hall won the boys race in 16 minutes, 32 seconds.
North Hall won the boys team event, led by Nix, Bryce Schuebert in second with a time of 16:33, Zack Hill in fifth at 16:47.8, and Quintin Miles in 10th at 17:05.4. South Forsyth took second in the team scores, and Hart County was third. Individually, Dylan Forester of Dawson County took fourth place with a time of 16:47.3, Dustin Snyder of Lakeview was seventh with a 16:52, and Union County’s Jeremy Webb was eighth at 16:53.
Gearing led White County to the girls’ title, and teammate Sinead O’Bryant was ninth with a time of 20:37. Union County’s Emma Garrison finished in second place with a time of 19:22, Victoria Rogers of North Hall was third at 19:34, and Chestatee’s Tori Mullinax was seventh at 20:16. Gainesville’s Brenna Fair was eighth at 20:29, and Sarah Beth English of Chestatee rounded out the top 10 at 20:40.
South Forsyth finished in second in the girls’ overall standings, while North Hall’s girls took third place.
Loganville Christian defeated Heritage Christian 25-12, 25-10, 25-20 on Thursday in Loganville.
