Dawson County’s Dylan Forester and Union County’s Emma Garrison finished in first place in the boys and girls races at the Buford Invitational on Wednesday in Buford with times of 17 minutes, 24 seconds and 20 minutes, 1 second, respectively.
In the boys run, Jeremy Webb of Union County took third place at 17:33, White County’s Austin Thompson was fourth with a time of 17:39. Buford’s Josh Thompson was fifth at 17:48, and teammates Justin Pirkle and Avery Webster were eighth and ninth with times of 18:15 and 18:25, respectively. Dawson County’s Chris Bywaletz rounded out the top 10 at 18:28.
Lovett’s boys team took first place overall, followed by Buford in second and Apalachee in third.
Jenna Gearing led White County’s girls to a first place win, finishing second with a time of 20:29. Fellow Lady Warrior Kristen Mitchell took third (21:24), Sinead O’Bryant fifth (21:37), Kaitlyn Gearing sixth (21:58) and Megan Norris eighth. Jefferson’s Reese Bowles and Morgan Mitchell also finished in the top 10 at seventh and ninth with times of 22:00 and 22:09.
In the overall standings, White County was followed by Lovett in second and Jefferson in third.
