The North Hall High volleyball team opened area play with a sweep against Chestatee (25-19, 25-12), Flowery Branch (25-19, 25-21) and West Hall (25-19, 25-20) on Tuesday in Flowery Branch.
Kathryn Bell had 28 assists, three kills and eight aces for the Lady Trojans (9-5, 3-0 Area 7-AAA). Katherine Filchak had eight kills and five blocks. Evann Rowland had six kills, 20 digs and five aces. Kelsey Marlatt had four digs and a service run of seven. Haley Pantern had three aces and a service run of 12.
Chestatee beat West Hall (25-18, 25-21) and lost to Flowery Branch (25-10, 18-25, 25-22) and North Hall. Alura Roe had 23 kills, one dig, and 10 blocks. Ali Burnette had seven kills and seven aces. Madisen Yates had eight kills, three assists and two blocks.
West Hall (8-12, 0-3 Area 7-AAA) finished the night with losses to Chestatee, North Hall and Flowery Branch (25-13, 25-18).
North Hall and Flowery Branch visit Collins Hill on Thursday for the Collins Hill Classic. Chestatee visits Eastside at 5 p.m. Thursday against Eastside and Alcovy. West Hall visits Monroe Area at 5 p.m. Thursday against Monroe Area and Madison County.
West Forsyth sweeps area tri-meet
The Lady Wolverines earned area wins against Johnson (23-25, 25-12, 25-16) and Gaineville (25-18, 25-16) on Wednesday in Gainesvlle.
Katie Clark had seven kills and 14 aces on the night for Johnson (6-4, 1-1 Area 7-AAA). Mary Fiorentino and Laura Gazaway combined for 13 digs against West Forsyth.
Taylor Ricketts had six kills and 10 digs for the Lady Red Elephants (2-9, 0-2) against West Forsyth. Kiki Thompson had 10 digs on the night for Gainesville.
Johnson visits Lakeview Academy at 4:30 p.m. Thursday against Lakeview Academy and Greene County. Gainesville visits Buford at 6 p.m. Thursday against Buford and St. Francis.
Lakeview drops two in Buford
The Lakeview Academy Lady Lions lost to Buford (18-25, 11-25) and to Dacula (12-25, 19-25) on Tuesday in Buford.
SOFTBALL
Jefferson 4, Fannin County 3
Devin Stanley hit a RBI triple in the top of the eighth inning to give the Lady Dragons a win on Tuesday in Blue Ridge.
Kris Reynolds was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Jefferson (8-7. 2-0 Region 8-AA).
Summer Bartek was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Lady Dragons. Brooke Whelchel added two hits.
Jefferson plays host to Union County at 6 p.m. Thursday.
White County 17, Johnson 0
The Lady Warriors’ Stephanie Satterfield pitched a four-inning complete-game no-hitter with seven strikeouts for her eighth win of the season on Tuesday in Oakwood.
Emma Cummins, Katie Medlock, Krista Woody, Laura Sangster and Kaley Dover each had three hits for White County (9-4, 4-2 Region 7-AAA).
White County plays host to West Hall at 5:55 p.m. Thursday. Johnson visits Lumpkin County at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.
West Hall 1, West Forsyth 0
Emily Hammond struck out nine batters for her sixth win of the season for the Lady Spartans on Tuesday night in Oakwood.
Hammond also had two hits for West Hall (11-5, 5-0 Region 7-AAA).
Miranda Miller scored the lone run of the game for the Lady Spartans in the second inning off a sacrifice fly hit by Alex Wright.
West Hall visits Chestatee at 5:55 p.m. today.
Cross country
Gainesville wins event
The Red Elephants scored 41 points to win the Pickens County Invitational on Tuesday in Jasper.
Aurelio Montano finished third for Gainesville with a time of 18 minutes 14 seconds. David Whitson finished sixth, Joey Summer finished seventh and Facundo Arroyo finished 10th for the Red Elephants.
Chestatee finished fourth with 94 points.
Gainesville will compete in the West Hall invitational at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
