The Riverside Military Academy soccer program shut down Long County 5-0 on Wednesday in Gainesville, earning a spot in the Class AA state quarterfinals.
The Eagles put three goals into the back of the net over the final 13 minutes of the game to secure the victory. Riverside Military’s first goal in the second half came in the 67th minute with a shot by Samuel Parker, his second goal of the match.
Before the game ended, Guillermo Cruz-Celis added his second shot into the net. Carlos Carrillo had the Eagles’ final goal on a finish off a cross from Cruz-Celis.
Riverside Military will face Pace Academy in the quarterfinal round Saturday in Gainesville.
EAST HALL BOYS 10, JACKSON 0: Leo Toledo finished with a hat trick for the fourth-ranked Vikings (14-5-1) in the second round of the Class AAA state tournament Wednesday in Gainesville. Carlos Castrejon scored twice for East Hall with one assist. Diego Alarcon had a pair of goals and assists. Roberto Angeles, Oscar Gonzales and Antonio Perez each had one goal and one assist for the Vikings.
With the win, East Hall moves on to face Calhoun on Saturday in Gordon County. Game time is still to be determined.
JOHNSON BOYS 4, THOMAS COUNTY CENTRAL 0: Fernando Carrillo, Jaime Rosales, Bryant Anaya and Alberto Deltoro each scored for the Knights in the second-round match Wednesday in Oakwood. Assists were recorded by Junior Gonzalez, Rigo Campa and Fernando Carrillo.
With the win, Johnson (17-2) hosts Cross Keys in the quarterfinal round Saturday in south Hall.
