The Gainesville men’s golf team overcame a 14-stroke deficit after one round to win it’s third-straight Georgia-South Carolina Cup on Saturday at Willow Creek Country Club in Greer, S.C.
The Red Elephants shot 314 in the first round and 300 in the second for a total of 614 to clip Christ Church Episcopal School (S.C.) by two strokes.
Gainesville’s Spencer Ralston was named to the all-tournament team after posting a 76 and 72, for a two day total of 148 (+4). Lawson King (74-78), Nathan Williams (80-77), Jackson Bishop (84-73) and Grant Lasseter (84-79) rounded out the Red Elephant scores.
The Red Elephants play host to the Big Red Shootout at Chattahoochee Golf Club on Monday.
WEST HALL INVITATIONAL: The Cambridge girls carded a 218 to win the ladies’ division of the West Hall Invitational on Saturday at Chateau Elan Golf Course.
North Oconee placed second with a team score of 235, and Gainesville finished third with a 247.
Gainesville’s Ashleigh Bishop shot an 80 for the Lady Red Elephants, while Meg Callahan carded an 83 and Madeline Harr and Morgan Reece finished with totals of 84.
Gainesville plays in the Lady Bear Invitational on March 29 at Burke County High in Waynesboro.
EAST HALL BOYS 5, MONROE AREA 2 (Friday): Jason Mendoza, Leo Toledo and Ricardo Becerra each tallied a goal and an assist for the Vikings on Friday in Gainesville.
Amner Campos and Carlos Castrejon also scored for East Hall (5-1-3), which plays host to North Hall on Tuesday in Gainesville.
