Chandler Cochran went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Johnson to a 9-5 win against Clarke Central on Tuesday night in Oakwood.
Layne Chancey also had two hits for the Knights, who finished with nine hits to Clarke Central’s seven.
Johnson starting pitcher Asher Griffith turned in a solid outing on the mound, allowing only two earned runs over six innings of work.
The Knights (2-7) host Riverside Military at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
FLOWERY BRANCH 9, CENTENNIAL 0: Jonathan Hughes threw a complete-game shutout for the Falcons, allowing only two hits and striking out eight batters.
At the plate, Dylan Gibeau was 2 for 3 with a run batted in, while Bailey Godfrey was 1 for 3 with three RBIs.
Flowery Branch (4-3) hosts North Oconee today at 5:55 p.m. in Flowery Branch. The Falcons open Region 8-AAAAA play on Monday versus Salem.
JEFFERSON 7, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 1: Max Ford threw six innings and allowed one run and struck out 11 batters as the Dragons earned a win over the Knights in Region 8-AA play on Tuesday night in Jefferson.
Christian Hutch was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate for Jefferson with two runs scored and two runs batted in, while Micah Carpenter was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Trent Sorrells was 1 for 3 with two runs scored. Alex Gaba and Andy Nicolaus also scored runs for the Dragons.
For Riverside Military, Stephen Wechsler was 1 for 3 with a run scored, while Mike Green was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Jefferson (7-3, 3-0) visits Commerce today at 5:55 p.m.
CHESTATEE 11, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 6 (Monday): Caleb Jameson pitched six solid innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out 10 as the War Eagles earned a non-region win over the Raiders.
Jameson also helped his own cause at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a run scored. Tanner Gable was 3 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead the War Eagles, while Jordan Browning was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Eric George was 2 for 5 with two runs scored, Peyton Rider was 2 for 4 with a run scored, and Joey Scheman was 2 for 4 with an RBI for Chestatee.
The War Eagles host Wheeler on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Gainesville.
FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 3, FORSYTH CENTRAL 1: Connor Knotts, Taylor Richards and Sebastian Fernandez each tallied a goal in the Falcons’ win on Tuesday in Oakwood.
Knotts scored the Falcons’ first goal with a bending free kick in the first half, but Forsyth Central answered to tie the game 1-1 going into halftime.
Richards scored off an assist by Joey Berett to put Flowery Branch (3-5) back on top in the second half, and Fernandez later tacked on another goal.
Falcons goalkeepers Cade Minton and Jesus Alverado split time in the net for the Falcons to help earn the victory.
Flowery Branch faces Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Conyers.
FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 3, FORSYTH CENTRAL 2: Corrie Thomas and Lauren Kirk each scored a goal for the Lady Falcons on Tuesday night. Madeline McCarthy had a goal and an assist for Flowery Branch (6-1-1), which visits Salem on Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA play.
GAINESVILLE BOYS 6, LOGANVILLE 2: Six different players scored goals for the Red Elephants in their second region win of the season on Tuesday at City Park Stadium.
Diego Porras, Roberto Nunez, Erik Romero, Erik Bonilla, Cesar Regaldo and Jose Cruz Garcia each tallied a goal for Gainesville (7-1-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAA), while Ricardo Gomez finished with three assists and Christian Ochoa added an assist.
Gainesville plays Apalachee on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 1, LOGANVILLE 0: The Lady Red Elephants pulled out another dramatic win, defeating Loganville 3-1 on penalty kicks after neither team was able to score in regulation or overtime.
Jazmin Penado, Anna Youmans and goalkeeper Ashlie Gonzalez successfully made penalty kicks for Gainesville (7-0-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAA). Gonzalez also had 13 saves in the net and stopped three penalty kicks.
Gainesville plays Apalachee on the road at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
NORTH HALL BOYS 8, FANNIN COUNTY 1: Five Trojans scored goals on Tuesday night in Gainesville.
Hunter Carter, Junior Avalos and Enrique Castrejon each scored two goals for North Hall, while Jiro Barrientos and Oscar Llanas finished with a goal apiece. Carter, Avalos, Barrientos, Jake Carter, Tyler Shows and Abraham Salvador each finished with an assist on the night for the Trojans, who host North Forsyth on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Gainesville.
JOHNSON 10, MONROE AREA 2: Sabian Abraea and Luis Deltoro each scored three goals as the Knights remained undefeated on Tuesday night in Oakwood.
Israel Avila, Leo Perez, Barut Perez and Luis Hernandez all scored a goal for Johnson (7-0, 2-0 Region 8-AAAA). Deltoro and Jeffrey Cabraels each finished with a team-high two assists, while Perez also finished with an assist.
Johnson visits Walnut Grove on Friday night in region play.
CHESTATEE GIRLS 7, STEPHENS COUNTY 0: Sadie Foote and Merrie Barnett each scored a pair of first-half goals and the Lady War Eagles improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-AAAA on Tuesday evening.
Taylor Buffington, Samantha Addington and Meagan Dew each scored second-half goals for the Lady War Eagles.
Alyssa Yarck, Nina Burgess, and Addington each recorded assists in the win. Goalkeeper Misandy Chavez earned her second shutout of the season.
Chestatee visits Eastside in Covington on Friday night.

Evelin Aviata scored two first-half goals and Hannah Mester added a goal in the second half to lift Johnson. Chandler Steele recorded two assists on the night for Johnson, which visits Walnut Grove on Friday night.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 1, LUMPKIN COUNTY 1: Chance Calderhead scored a goal for the Lions, who tied the Indians on Tuesday night in non-region play. Dalton Snyder made seven saves in goal for Lakeview Academy (4-2-1, 1-0 Region 8-A), which visits Hebron Christian on Friday night at 7 p.m.
EAST HALL BOYS 5, WHITE COUNTY 0: The third-ranked Vikings improved to 4-0-3 (2-0 in Region 7-AAA) with a win on Tuesday night in Gainesville. East Hall hosts North Oconee on Friday night.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY BOYS 3, JEFFERSON 2: Sipho Khoza won in No. 2 singles, while Drew Eidson won in No. 3 singles and the doubles pair of Armen Akhoyan/D’erron Patterson won in No. 2 doubles to lift the Eagles to a Region 8-AA victory on Tuesday.
Jefferson was led by No. 1 singles Gage Thompson and No. 1 doubles Justin Harrison/Nathaniel Trawick.
Riverside Military visits Rabun County in region action on Thursday.
WHITE COUNTY BOYS 4, EAST HALL 1: The Warriors cruised to three straight singles wins and a win in No. 2 doubles on Monday night.
Joe Dickery earned a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 1 singles, while Logan Slay earned a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles for White County. Levi Etris won in No. 3 singles, rallying from a set down to win in three sets. In No. 2 doubles, White County’s Rylee Patterson/Kevin Charette won in three sets.
East Hall’s point came from the No. 1 doubles team of Oscar Torres/Fermin De La Cruz.
CHESTATEE BOYS 4, JOHNSON 1: The War Eagles received wins in all three singles matches and in No. 1 doubles to beat the Knights on Tuesday.
In singles, Juan Carrion, Tyler Burgess and freshman Barron King each won, while the No. 1 doubles team of Reed Johnson/Austin Passmore won 6-2, 6-2.
For Johnson, the No. 2 doubles team of Man Chung/Josh Butler won in three sets.
JOHNSON GIRLS 3, CHESTATEE 2: The Lady Knights earned wins in No. 1 and 2 singles and No. 2 doubles to earn the victory on Monday.
Johnson’s Ashley Hogan won in No. 1 singles, while Zdena Janderova won in No. 2 singles. In doubles, Johnson’s team of Aly Groover/Julia Kay Mallory won in No. 2 doubles.
Chestatee earned wins in No. 1 doubles from Haley King/Grace Brown and in No. 3 singles from Adasery Osorno.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 4, HERITAGE 1 (Monday): The Red Elephants cruised to a Region 8-AAAAA victory on Monday in Conyers. Graham McKinnon won in No. 1 singles, while Roan Thompson won in No. 3 singles. In doubles play, Charles Calkins/Nick Dillard won 6-3, 6-4, and No. 2 doubles Trevor Munn/Davis Brown won 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 for the Red Elephants.
Gainesville visits Apalachee in region play on Thursday.
GAINESVILLE BOYS 13, MEADOWCREEK 2: Triston Wimpye tallied five goals in the Red Elephants’ third victory of the season on Tuesday in Norcross. Austin Graybeal and Bill Hood added two goals apiece, while Baxter Geyer, John Wager, Jack Brand and Dre Rios each scored one. Goalie Sam Terray finished with seven saves.
