Laur lead Flowery Branch over North hall

Andrew Laur earned the win for Flowery Branch (3-0), giving up one run in six innings with two strikeouts in a 4-3 win against North Hall on Thursday in Gainesville.

Chase Hulsey recorded a save and two doubles for the Falcons, while Drew Miles hit a solo home run and Logan Conley recorded two doubles. Flowery Branch visits West Forsyth at 5:55 p.m. Monday.

CEDAR SHOALS 4, JOHNSON 3: Adam White went 2 for 3 for the Knights, and A.J. Benefield went 1 for 3 with an RBI Thursday afternoon in Athens.

After trailing 3-1, Johnson came back in the sixth inning, scoring two runs and tying up the game. The Knights were unable to capitalize in seventh, while Cedar Shoals scored a run to grab the win.

Johnson hosts West Hall at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

GAINESVILLE 2, JEFFERSON 1: Michael Gettys led the Red Elephants (4-0) with a RBI triple on Thursday in Jefferson. David Gonzalez earned the win for Gainesville, allowing only one run in four innings with eight strikeouts.

The Red Elephants host Jefferson at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

ATHENS ACADEMY 14, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 6 (WEDNESDAY): Zane Stringer went 3 for 4 for the Eagles Wednesday afternoon in Athens. Christian Phares, Collin Pettell and Stephen Wechsler each went 2 for 4 for Riverside.

The Eagles visit Lakeview Academy at 4:30 p.m. Friday.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 171, ATHENS CHRISTIAN 172: John Jacobs shot a 38 for the Lions on Thursday afternoon in Athens. Eric Baldwin and Kevin Baldwin each finished with a 44 for Lakeview, and Matt Askounis shot a 45.

The Lions visit Riverside at 4 p.m. Monday.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 82, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 88: Haley Twiggs shot a 38 and Jessie Edge finished with a 44 for the Lady Trojans in an 8-hole match on Thursday at the Innsbruck Golf Course in Helen. Ashley Blackburn led the Lady Raiders with a 42, and Kristen Myers finished with a 46.

North Hall will compete in the Chattahoochee Invitational at 11 a.m. Saturday.

ATHENS CHRISTIAN BOYS 188, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 203 (WEDNESDAY): Hunter Dutruch shot a 47 and Coleman Lowenthal finished with a 49 for the Eagles on Wednesday afternoon at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.


FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 10, RABUN COUNTY 0: Cassidy Elrod led the Lady Falcons (6-0) with three goals and three assists, and Jacy Ramey added three goals Thursday night in Flowery Branch. Kayla Robles added one goal and two assists, and Kylie Fain, Cashen Thilyaw, Hannah Kirk and Megan Kirk each scored one goal. Lauren Dunn recorded two saves for Flowery Branch to earn her sixth shutout of the season.

The Lady Falcons visit Rockdale County at 5:30 Friday in Conyers.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 9, RABUN COUNTY 0: Thomas Davis led the Falcons with four goals and one assist Thursday night in Flowery Branch. Adrian Lagranda scored two goals for the Falcons, and Justin Hechavarria, Leo Manzo, Isauro Robles and Adrian Lagranda each scored one.

Luis Teran and Jonathan Beltran combined in the shutout for Flowery Branch.

BUFORD GIRLS 3, NORTH HALL 0: Lindsey White, Caitlin Dawkins and Mellissa Sullivan each scored for the Lady Wolves (4-1) on Thursday night. Liz Watkins and McKenna Harwood each earned an assist in the win for the Lady Wolves.

Caitlin Hollis recorded the shutout for Buford.

The Lady Wolves host Mountain View at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 4, LOGANVILLE CHRISTIAN 1: Kayla Goodson led the Lady Chargers (2-0) with two goals Thursday evening at Allen Creek Soccer Complex. Jordan Ball and Nicole Ball each added a goal for North Georgia.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN BOYS 2, LOGANVILLE 1: Jonah Martin led the Chargers (2-0) with one goal and one assist Thursday night at Allen Creek Soccer Complex. Chandler Staton also scored for North Georgia Christian on an assist by Dylan Boonstra.

The Chargers visit Creekside Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. Friday in McDonough.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 7, BANKS COUNTY 0: Annie Demsey led the Lady Lions with two goals on Thursday night in Homer. Ellie Gravitt, Lauren Sartor, Katie Zottnick, Liz Kenny and Elise Biegler each added one goal. Mona Abraham recorded three saves in her first shutout of the season.


WEST HALL BOYS 4, LANIER 1: Max Wilson finished with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles for the Spartans (4-2, 2-1 Region 8-AAA South) Thursday afternoon.

No. 1 doubles duo Brenden Worth and Tatum Scroggs recorded a 6-0, 6-0 shutout for West Hall.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, WALNUT GROVE 1: Brinkley Frankum and Georgia Summer recorded wins for the Lady Red Elephants at No. 2 and No. 3 singles Thursday afternoon in Loganville. No. 1 doubles pair Martha McKinnon and Lauren Carter, and No. 2 doubles duo Mady Wuest and Suzanne Smith also recorded wins for Gainesville.

The Lady Red Elephants host Buford on Monday.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 4, JACKSON COUNTY 1: After losing one set, Jake Schaefer came back to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for the Leopards (1-0) Thursday afternoon in Jefferson. No. 2 doubles duo Bobby Mguyen and Chris Willis won 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 for Banks County.

The Leopards visit East Jackson at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

North Hall visits Lumpkin County on Tuesday.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 4, WHITE COUNTY 1: Carolina Gijon and Haley King recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the Lady War Eagles’ first win of the season on Thursday afternoon.

Sarabeth Cummins won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Lady Warriors.

CHESTATEE BOYS 4, WHITE COUNTY 1: Jonathan Cook led the way at No. 1 singles remaining undefeated on the season with a 6-4, 6-1 victory as Chestatee swept the singles matches Thursday afternoon. No. 1 doubles team, Blaine Brown and Reed Johnson, also remain undefeated on the season with a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory for Chestatee. Preston Biggers and Joseph Cathey won 6-3, 6-0, for the Warriors at No. 2 doubles.

Chestatee hosts Stephens County on Tuesday night.

JOHNSON GIRLS 4, FORSYTH CENTRAL 1: Maggie Turner won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles for the Lady Knights on Thursday in Oakwood.

Johnson hosts Monroe Area at 4 p.m. on Monday.
