High school scoreboard: Lumpkin County routs Gilmer to stay unbeaten

The Lumpkin County High baseball team continued its hot start to the season with a 12-3 win against Gilmer in their region opener Tuesday in Ellijay.

Drew Uptegraph picked up his second win of the year for Lumpkin County (3-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAA), striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

Jonathan Whitehead led the Indians at the plate with two RBIs. Chad Fulton, Blake Sargent and Devin Dunson each had one hit.
Lumpkin County plays host to West Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

West Forsyth 3, North Hall 2

A three-run first inning was all the Wolverines needed to keep North Hall looking for its first win Tuesday in Cumming.

Jackson Coker was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Trojans (0-3, 0-1 Region 7-AAA).

Nathan Strong recorded three walks and Blayne Gilmer doubled for North Hall.

North Hall plays host to Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Horizon Christian 6, North Georgia Christian 3

Seth Kendall and Ryan Farmer each had RBIs for the Chargers on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Nate Harris and Trey Redman combined for six strikeouts on the mound for North Georgia Christian.

North Georgia Christian returns to action Friday at Laurel Park.

North Hall 5, Creekview 4


Tony Gonzalez led the Trojans with two goals Tuesday in Canton.

Miguel Morales, Francisco Avila and Marcos Llamas each had one goal for North Hall (4-1, 1-0 Area 7-AAA).

North Hall visits West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Flowery Branch girls 8, Chestatee 1

Joy Smith led a potent Lady Falcons offense with three goals and two assists Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

Cassidy Elrod scored twice and had an assist for Flowery Branch (5-3, 2-0 Region 7-AAA). Lindsay Porter, Alli Wellborn and

Bekah English each had one goal.

Lauren Dunn made six saves in goal for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch visits Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Chestatee (3-1-1, 1-1) plays host to West Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

West Hall girls 7, Winder-Barrow 0

Natalie Carrillo, Tania Perez and Brooke Reed each scored twice for the Lady Spartans on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Brittany Farmer also scored for West Hall (5-1, 1-1 Area 7-AAA). Shannon Mundy, Sara Gibson Perez and Carrillo each recorded assists.

West Hall visits Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

North Georgia Christian 3, Mountain Area Christian 0

Ashlyne Wells scored twice and Ashley Valentine added a goal in the Lady Chargers’ season opener Tuesday.

North Georgia Christian (1-0) visits Horizon Academy at 4 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville girls 3, East Hall 2


Mady Wuest and Hunter Lane each won a singles match for the Lady Red Elephants on Tuesday at Longwood Park.

The doubles team of Elizabeth Hood and Lyndsay Mercer secured the win for Gainesville (1-3, 1-0 Region 7-AAA).

Gainesville visits Flowery Branch at 4 p.m. Thursday. East Hall plays host to West Hall at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Chestatee girls 3, Pickens 2

The Lady War Eagles opened the match with singles wins by Amy Werner and Alison Wedegis on Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Emily Elder and Sarah Beth Tankersley won in doubles to clinch the win for Chestatee (3-3, 2-3 Region 7A-AAA).

Chestatee plays host to Lakeview at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Chestatee boys 4, Pickens 1

Max Gingles and Abraham Montoya won in singles for the War Eagles on Tuesday at Chestatee High.

The team of Scott McConnell and Justin Byers and the team of Matt Olson and Graham Kosiba picked up wins in doubles for
Chestatee (3-3, 2-2 Region 7A-AAA).

Chestatee visits Riverside Military at 4 p.m. today.

Johnson boys 4, Flowery Branch 1

The Knights swept the singles matches with wins from Stephen Hester, Scott Allan and Paul Neese on Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

Roy Collins and Casey Tanner picked up a doubles win for Johnson (2-2, 1-0 Region 7B-AAA).

Coulter Burch and Luke Smith won in doubles for Flowery Branch.

Johnson visits Lumpkin County at 4 p.m. today. Flowery Branch visits Gainesville at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Lakeview Academy boys 4, Riverside Military 1

The Lions won each of their matches in straight sets Tuesday in Gainesville.

Joe Kowalski was the lone winner for the Eagles, shutting out his opponent.

Riverside plays host to Chestatee at 4 p.m. today. Lakeview visits Chestatee at 4 p.m. Thursday.

North Hall boys 3, Creekview 2

The Trojans swept in doubles play, with wins from the team of Eli LoCicero and Charlie Hortenstine and the team of Michael
Franze and Scott Swanson on Tuesday at North Hall High.

Mitch McCray picked up a singles win in straight sets for North Hall (3-4, 3-0 Region 7A-AAA).

North Hall visits Lumpkin County at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Creekview girls 3, North Hall 2

Jessica Butts won a singles match and team of Gay Anne Agnew and Rachel Langman won in doubles, but the Lady Trojans were unable to defeat Creekview on Tuesday at North Hall High.

North Hall (4-3, 2-1 Region 7-AAA) visits Lumpkin County on Saturday.

GOLF

Lumpkin County boys 158, North Forsyth 166


Aaron George was the low-medallist of the day, shooting an even-par 36 for the Indians on Tuesday at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega.

Everett Huntsinger shot a 39 for Lumpkin County (2-1). Cody Fleming carded a 41 and Ben Jarrard had a 39.

Lumpkin County visits Dawson County at 4 p.m. Thursday at Chestatee Golf Course in Dawsonville.

North Hall boys split team and win

The Trojans divided into a green team and a white team, with both teams defeating West Hall on Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course.

The green team won the event with a 161, followed by the white team at 164 and West Hall at 177.

Landry Haynes was the low-medallist of the day, shooting a 36 for the white team. Derek Watson and Charlie Matthews each carded a 42 for the white team.

Jimmy Lloyd led the green team with a 37, while Ross Ward added a 39.

Ben Braza led West Hall with a 42, and Austin Lanier followed with a 44.

North Hall participates in the Coal Mountain Classic at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Hampton Golf Village in Cumming.

North Hall girls 112, Gainesville 115, West Hall 116

Hope West was the low-medallist of the day, shooting a 55 for Lady Trojans on Tuesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Susan Frobos led Gainesville with a 116.

North Hall and Gainesville will participate in the Coal Mountain Classic at 9 a.m., Saturday at the Hampton Golf Village in Cumming.
