The Lumpkin County High baseball team continued its hot start to the season with a 12-3 win against Gilmer in their region opener Tuesday in Ellijay.
Drew Uptegraph picked up his second win of the year for Lumpkin County (3-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAA), striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
Jonathan Whitehead led the Indians at the plate with two RBIs. Chad Fulton, Blake Sargent and Devin Dunson each had one hit.
Lumpkin County plays host to West Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.
West Forsyth 3, North Hall 2
A three-run first inning was all the Wolverines needed to keep North Hall looking for its first win Tuesday in Cumming.
Jackson Coker was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Trojans (0-3, 0-1 Region 7-AAA).
Nathan Strong recorded three walks and Blayne Gilmer doubled for North Hall.
North Hall plays host to Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Horizon Christian 6, North Georgia Christian 3
Seth Kendall and Ryan Farmer each had RBIs for the Chargers on Tuesday in Gainesville.
Nate Harris and Trey Redman combined for six strikeouts on the mound for North Georgia Christian.
North Georgia Christian returns to action Friday at Laurel Park.

Tony Gonzalez led the Trojans with two goals Tuesday in Canton.
Miguel Morales, Francisco Avila and Marcos Llamas each had one goal for North Hall (4-1, 1-0 Area 7-AAA).

Flowery Branch girls 8, Chestatee 1
Joy Smith led a potent Lady Falcons offense with three goals and two assists Tuesday in Flowery Branch.
Cassidy Elrod scored twice and had an assist for Flowery Branch (5-3, 2-0 Region 7-AAA). Lindsay Porter, Alli Wellborn and
Bekah English each had one goal.
Lauren Dunn made six saves in goal for the Lady Falcons.

Natalie Carrillo, Tania Perez and Brooke Reed each scored twice for the Lady Spartans on Tuesday in Oakwood.

The Lady War Eagles opened the match with singles wins by Amy Werner and Alison Wedegis on Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Jessica Butts won a singles match and team of Gay Anne Agnew and Rachel Langman won in doubles, but the Lady Trojans were unable to defeat Creekview on Tuesday at North Hall High.
North Hall (4-3, 2-1 Region 7-AAA) visits Lumpkin County on Saturday.
GOLF
Lumpkin County boys 158, North Forsyth 166
Aaron George was the low-medallist of the day, shooting an even-par 36 for the Indians on Tuesday at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega.
Everett Huntsinger shot a 39 for Lumpkin County (2-1). Cody Fleming carded a 41 and Ben Jarrard had a 39.
Lumpkin County visits Dawson County at 4 p.m. Thursday at Chestatee Golf Course in Dawsonville.
North Hall boys split team and win
The Trojans divided into a green team and a white team, with both teams defeating West Hall on Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course.
The green team won the event with a 161, followed by the white team at 164 and West Hall at 177.
Landry Haynes was the low-medallist of the day, shooting a 36 for the white team. Derek Watson and Charlie Matthews each carded a 42 for the white team.
Jimmy Lloyd led the green team with a 37, while Ross Ward added a 39.
Ben Braza led West Hall with a 42, and Austin Lanier followed with a 44.
North Hall participates in the Coal Mountain Classic at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Hampton Golf Village in Cumming.
North Hall girls 112, Gainesville 115, West Hall 116
Hope West was the low-medallist of the day, shooting a 55 for Lady Trojans on Tuesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.
Susan Frobos led Gainesville with a 116.
North Hall and Gainesville will participate in the Coal Mountain Classic at 9 a.m., Saturday at the Hampton Golf Village in Cumming.
