High school scoreboard: Jeffrey Jenkins' complete-game shutout pushes West Hall baseball to 5-0 win

Jeffrey Jenkins threw a complete-game shutout for West Hall, allowing just three hits in a 5-0 win against White County on Thursday in Oakwood.

He compiled seven strikeouts from the mound and allowed one walk. Jenkins also had a hit and drove in a pair of runs for the Spartans. Also for West Hall, Tanner Ahmad had two hits and drove in three runs. Carter Lott finished with a pair of hits for the Spartans.

On Friday, West Hall visits White County for a 5:55 p.m. game in Cleveland.

NORTH HALL 6, FANNIN COUNTY 4: Corban Meeler threw a complete game for the Trojans, giving up four runs with 10 strikeouts on Thursday in Blue Ridge. Austin Adams had the game-tying double for North Hall, while Wesley Smith drove in the winning run. Adams, Jackson Latty, Reese Olson and Taber Mongero all had two hits for the Trojans.

On Friday, North Hall hosts Fannin County in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. at Jody Davis Field in Gainesville.

GAINESVILLE 4, FLOWERY BRANCH 3: Dalton Kyle’s walk-off hit in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Red Elephants to a win Thursday night at Ivey-Watson Field.

Kyle finished 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and a walk. Cameron Wilson and Ross Tipton also produced two hits apiece for Gainesville, which had four pitchers piece together a seven-strikeout performance while giving up just one earned run.

Flowery Branch’s Sean Akins and Anthony Grutadaurio recored two hits each, with the latter picking up the Falcons’ lone RBI.

Gainesville and Flowery Branch will play again at 4 p.m. Saturday at Coolray Field.


GAINESVILLE GIRLS TOP DACULA: The Lady Red Elephants swept doubles action with wins from Madi Kiser/Paige Ackerman and Paige Patterson/Grace O’Keefe to beat Dacula 3-2 on Thursday. Winning in singles was Ali Waggoner in the No. 3 slot.

On Tuesday, Gainesville’s girls beat Winder-Barrow 4-1. Haley Frankum and Waggoner won in singles for the Lady Red Elephants, while Patterson/O’Keefe and Kiser/Ackerman won in doubles action.

On Monday, Gainesville visits Lanier for a region match in Sugar Hill.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 3, DACULA 2: The No. 1 doubles team of Roan Thompson and Michael Head clinched a 3-2 victory for the Red Elephants on Thursday at Longwood Park.

Gainesville also received wins from Dylan Pineda in No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-3) and the doubles team of Thomas Carter/Max Wuest (6-2, 6-7, 6-2). With the win, the Red Elephants improved to 3-0 in Region 8-AAAAAA play.

TROJANS BOYS TOP EAST HALL: Christian Boychuk and Kody Dills won in singles for the Trojans in a 4-1 win against East Hall on Thursday. In doubles, North Hall (6-3, 2-0 Region 7-AAA) swept with Daniel Martin/Adam Turcotte and Shawn Walhausen/Ethan Surles winning in straight sets.

On Friday, North Hall faces Greater Atlanta Christian.

NORTH HALL GIRLS SWEEP EAST HALL: The Lady Trojans won every game, starting with victories in singles by Anna Montgomery, Christen Barnes and Sydney Patterson on Thursday.

In doubles, Annalise Gregory/Lauren White and Ella Oxley/Baylee Turner won 6-0, 6-0 for North Hall (6-3, 2-0).

BUFORD BOYS 5, JOHNSON 0: Brady Todd, Dalton Counts and Trent Milton swept singles matches for the Wolves on Thursday at Buford City Park. In doubles, Cameron DeLoach/Alex Pruitt won at No. 1 doubles, and Cole Tarleton/Luke Davidson won at No. 2 doubles.

BUFORD GIRLS 5, JOHNSON 0: Bailey McCammon, Kenzie Walters and Ainsley Keller won in singles matches for the Lady Wolves Thursday. In doubles, Tamia Wayne/Gabby Benson won in the first doubles pairing, while Sydney Grothe/Savanna Klem won at No. 2 doubles.
