Ty Cockfield scored 46 points, including 26 in the fourth quarter, to lead Johnson to a comeback 82-76 win over Apalachee that keeps the Knights undefeated.
Roderick English added 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help Johnson (18-0, 3-0 in Region 8-AAAA) overcome a 40-27 halftime deficit. But in the fourth, Cockfield took over, scoring 26 of Johnson’s 36 points in the final eight minutes to secure the win against a scrappy Wildcats team (14-5, 7-2).
Apalachee’s Kamar Baldwin also scored 46, tying Cockfield for the game-high.
Johnson plays next at home on Tuesday night against North Oconee. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 60, NORTH HALL 45: Julianne Sutton scored 17 points to lead three other Lady Falcons in double digits to help Flowery Branch to a road win over North Hall on Saturday afternoon.
Maddie Hetzel (11 points), Lexie Sengkhammee (11) and Taniyah Worth (10) all shot over 75 percent from inside the 3-point arc to give Flowery Branch (15-3) its fifteenth win of the season. The Falcons outscored the Trojans 20-7 in a pivotal third quarter.
North Hall (11-8) will play its next game at home on Friday against North Oconee in a region matchup at 7 p.m. Flowery Branch will travel to Lanier High on Tuesday to face the Longhorns at 6 p.m.
WEST HALL GIRLS 51, CHESTATEE 49: The Lady Spartans scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to complete a late comeback over the Lady War Eagles at home on Saturday night.
Avery Prather scored 14 for West Hall (7-10), while Macy Passmore and Anna Mckendree added 13 and 12, respectively.
Tyler Bennett scored a game-high 17 for the Lady War Eagles, but it wasn’t enough to save Chestatee (11-8) from suffering its eighth defeat of the season.
Chestatee was leading 40-33 after the third quarter, but West Hall held the visitors to just nine points in the final eight minutes of action before pulling back the lead and overtaking the Lady War Eagles for the win. Kayla Watson added 15 in a losing effort.
Chestatee will take on Buford next on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in Buford while West Hall takes on Franklin County at home.
CHESTATEE BOYS 50, WEST HALL 36: Jordan Pulliam scored 17 points for the War Eagles to help his team to a 14-point win over the Spartans (3-14) on Saturday evening.
Hunter Creamer chipped in 11 for Chestatee(11-9, 2-1 in Region 8-AAAA), while Donavan Hernandez added 10 to help secure a win for the War Eagles.
Chestatee plays Buford on the road on Tuesday night with tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN BOYS 60, MOUNTAIN AREA CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 58 (OT): A buzzer-beater by Jackson Britton in overtime helped the Chargers win their 17th game of the season.
Norris Rettiger led North Georgia Christian (17-7) with 20 points on the road while Justin Law added 11 points and Marcus Reimer chipped in nine.
The Chargers will play next on Thursday against Horizon Christian in Cumming.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 76, TOWNS COUNTY 51: Hanna Grogan paced the Lady Lions with 27 points on Saturday, and Christen Copeland added 12 points.
Misty Lindemuth led the Lady Indians with 20 points.
Lakeview (11-6, 7-0 Region 8-A) hosts Hebron Christian Academy on Tuesday.
BANKS COUNTY BOYS 65, FANNIN COUNTY 43: Zez Steeple recorded 22 points and five assists for the Leopards in a 22-point victory over the Rebels on Saturday evening.
Austin Venable added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Banks County (17-3, 6-1 in Region 7-AAA) while Zac Orr chipped in eight points and grabbed 10 boards.
Banks County travels to play East Hall on Tuesday.
FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 67, NORTH HALL 50: John Mills led the Falcons with 23 points on Saturday, and Chris Garcia and Taylor Bourdage both chipped in 11 points.
Flowery Branch (10-9) plays at Lanier on Tuesday in Region 8-AAAAA action.
WASHINGTON-WILKES BOYS 63, RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 55: Avery Cagle led the Eagles with 26 points in a losing effort on the road in Washington.
Griffin Sewell recorded 17 points while Wiley Burns added five points and six blocks to keep Riverside (5-9, 1-5 in Region 8-AA) in contention. The Eagles will travel to play Rabun County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
LAKEVIEW BOYS 77, TOWNS COUNTY 47: Tae Turner led the Lions with 21 points, eight steals and six assists in Lakeview’s win over the Indians on Saturday night.
Josh Randolph scored 15 points for Lakeview, while Tre Gober and Brandon Browner both added 10 in the win.
Lakeview will travel next to play Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula on Tuesday.
