Hanna Grogan’s 34 points carried the Lakeview Academy girls to a 65-63 victory against North Hall on Saturday in Gainesville. Ryann Moody was second in scoring for the Lady Lions with 14 points.
Sadie Cleveland led North Hall with 18 points, while Tatum McQuillen added 17.
Sarah Hollifield finished with nine points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Trojans.
Lakeview Academy visits Athens Christian at 6 p.m. Tuesday. North Hall visits Johnson at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
NORTH HALL BOYS 51, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 49: Sam Jackson finished with a game-high 18 points for the Trojans, and Carson Heinen added nine.
Tre Gober scored 12 for the Lions, while Drew Cottrell added 11.
North Hall visits Johnson at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oakwood. Lakeview Academy visits Athens Christian at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 66, FORSYTH CENTRAL 28: Julianne Sutton paced the second-ranked Lady Falcons with 15 points on Saturday. Lexie Sengkhammee finished with nine for Flowery Branch.
On Tuesday, Flowery Branch visits Apalachee in Winder.
FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 49, FORSYTH CENTRAL 38: Gabe Holston scored 12 points and John Mills chipped in 10 for the Lanierland tournament champions on Saturday.
Flowery Branch faces Apalachee at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
WHITE COUNTY BOYS 69, LUMPKIN COUNTY 55: John Ward scored 22 and Whit Mauney added 20 points for the Warriors (11-5) on Saturday. Brad Hurst was also in double-digit points with 13 for White County.
For Lumpkin County, Brandon Zarate led the way with 19 points, while Jack Howard added 17.
BUFORD GIRLS 68, STEPHENSON 50: Tory Ozment had a team-high 15 points for the Lady Wolves in the Gwinnett Daily Post Challenge on Saturday at Archer High in Lawrenceville. Marissa Bruce scored 13 for Buford, while Zikaya Wright finished with 12.
On Friday, Buford hosts North Oconee at 7 p.m.
DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 45, FRANKLIN COUNTY 39: Karlie Bearden scored 15 for the Lady Tigers who were sharp down the stretch to earn the win Saturday in Dawsonville. Haley Burgess finished with 13 points for Dawson County, which won after the game was tied 33-33 at the end of three quarters.
On Tuesday, Dawson County visits Lumpkin County in Dahlonega.
CORRECTION: In Saturday’s story about the top five sports stories of the year, it was reported that the West Hall boys lost to Buford in the final game of the 2015 soccer regular season. That was a junior varsity match for the Spartans.
