The Gainesville High baseball program won twice Saturday, beating North Forsyth 7-0 and Dunwoody 5-4, in Coal Mountain.
Against the Raiders, Dalton Kyle had a two-run homer in the sixth inning for the Red Elephants (5-1). Kyle York earned the win pitching, throwing six innings and allowed six hits.
Jared Smith and York each added a run-scoring hit for Gainesville.
In Game 2, A.J. Smallwood threw four innings and allowed just two hits for the Red Elephants. Charlie Wall had a double, three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Smith added a run-scoring double for Gainesville.
On Tuesday, Gainesville visits Jefferson for a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
EAST HALL 5, FLOWERY BRANCH 1: Isaac Buffington threw six innings and allowed just three hits and no earned runs for the Vikings on Saturday.
At the plate, Trey Campbell was 2 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs. On Monday, East Hall visits Greater Atlanta Christian in Lilburn.
WEST HALL 9, JACKSON COUNTY 6 (Friday): Tanner Ahmad, Bailey Kozloski, Cole Wilson, Charlie Cochran, Erik Ayala and Cameron Shirley each had two hits at the plate for the Spartans on Friday. Ayala drove in three runs for West Hall.
On the mound, Ahmad came in to pitch the final 2 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win.
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 3, UNION COUNTY 2 (Friday): Elijah Crook put the winning shot in the back of the net for the Eagles with just two seconds left on Friday in Blairsville.
Javier Bravo got the ball inside the box on a throw-in with seven seconds remaining, then Crook got an uncontested shot on the goal.
Riverside Military hosts Athens Christian on Tuesday in Gainesville.
EAST HALL BOYS 6, EAST JACKSON 0 (Friday): Carlos Castrejon produced a hat trick for the Vikings (6-0) in Commerce.
EAST JACKSON GIRLS 3, EAST HALL 2 (Friday): Denci Murillo scored both goals for the Lady Vikings (2-4) on Friday.
On Tuesday, East Hall hosts West Hall, starting with the girls’ game at 5:30 p.m.
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 8, RIVERWOOD 7 (OT): Jensen Hess scored five goals with an assist for the Eagles, while Sheymus Maloney added two goals for the Eagles on Friday at Maginnis Field. Riverside Military visits Mount Pisgah at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Due to a writer’s error, the score of Flowery Branch’s 2-0 win against West Hall from Thursday was printed incorrectly. J.C. Sewell had 11 strikeouts from the mound for the Falcons.
