High school scoreboard: Fligg leads Chestatee on senior night

The Chestatee high girls soccer team celebrated its senior night with a 6-1 win against Johnson on Thursday at Chestatee High.

Megan Fligg, a senior, led the War Eagles (11-4-1, 5-4 Area 7-AAA) with four goals and two assists. Kelsey Neukum and Kathryn Barnett also scored and Daniela Sotelo and Abi Mills added assists.

Sharon Sotelo and Sarah Brothers combined in goal to record the win for Chestatee.

Chestatee faces West Hall in the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup championship game at 8 p.m. today at Allen Creek Soccer Complex. Johnson (6-6, 3-6) plays host to Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. April 14.

West Hall boys 10, White County 0

Rudy Vazquez led the Spartans with two goals and two assists in an area win Thursday in Oakwood.

Felix Ramirez scored twice for West Hall (12-3, 7-2 Area 7-AAA), which has scored 24 goals in its last three games.

Jacob Roadcap, Chandler Ligas, Matt Lewis, Juan Arbelaez, and Gerson Mejia also scored for the Spartans. Elvin Mendieta added three assists.

Jamie King and Ismael Miranda combined for the shutout in goal for West Hall.

West Hall faces Johnson in the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup championship game at 8 p.m. today at Chestatee High. White County (2-13, 0-10) plays host to Hart County at 7:30 p.m. April 13.

Flowery Branch boys 2, Lumpkin County 0

Memo Rodriguez broke a scoreless tie 28 seconds into the second half for the Falcons on Thursday in Flowery Branch.

Erly Acosta also scored for Flowery Branch (10-6-1, 7-3 Area 7-AAA), which has won five straight area games.

Zach Clark recorded the shutout in goal for the Falcons.

Flowery Branch visits Class AAA’s fourth-ranked St. Pius X at 7:30 p.m. April 14. Lumpkin County (8-6, 3-6) plays host to Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. April 14.

TENNIS

Johnson girls 3, East Hall 2 (Wednesday)


The Lady Knights swept doubles action with wins from the team of Laura Gazaway and Annabeth Peace and the team of Claire Crain and Harlee Robson on Wednesday at East Hall Park.

Katie Clark won in singles for Johnson. Kelsey Allen and Dani Sandovoe won in singles for East Hall.

Johnson wraps up region play April 13 at West Hall.

TRACK AND FIELD

North Hall places second in meet (Wednesday)


The Trojan boys defeated White County and lost to West Forsyth in a three-team meet Tuesday in Cumming.

First places finishers for North Hall were Nolan Clark in the mile and 800-meter, Cody Barger in the two-mile, Darian Roman in the 400 and Peyton Wilhoite.

Second-place finishers for the Trojans were Ty McCormack in the 2-mile, Stephen Flanagan in the shot put, Bryant Parks in the discus and Brandon Lawson in the 800. North Hall’s 4x100 team of Randy Olson, Ben Booth, Jordan Chaffin and Wilhoite and 4x400 team of Michael Kourdi, Luis Gonzalez, Travis McEnaney and Chaffin also finished second.
