With two goals from Hartley Carter the Gainesville girls soccer team defeated White County 2-1 in overtime on Friday in Cleveland.

Carter’s first goal came in the first half on an assist from Raquel Castillo.

White County’s Kaitlyn Hooper answered back with a goal to leave the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.

With three minutes left in the second half of overtime, Castillo connected with Carter again to lift the Lady Red Elephants (2-0, 1-0 Region 7B-AAA) to victory.

Gainesville plays host to Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Park.

White County (2-1, 0-1 7A-AAA) visits Lumpkin County at 5 p.m. Monday in Dahlonega.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 10, WHITE COUNTY 0: Russ Puckett scored six goals for the Red Elephants on Friday in Cleveland.

Irving Salgado scored two goals for Gainesville, and Douglass Mejia and Ricky Corria each scored once for the Red Elephants.

Gainesville faces Chestatee Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at City Park.

BUFORD GIRLS 3, ATHENS ACADEMY 0: Lady Wolves sophomore goalie Caitlin Hollis had her first shutout Friday night for the Lady Wolves in Athens.

Liz Darden, Lindsey White, and Mariah Mills each scored a goal for Buford (2-0). The Lady Wolves visit West Hall at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Oakwood.

Baseball

JACKSON COUNTY 13, LUMPKIN COUNTY 11: Ken Miller and Zach Stitcher each drove in three runs for the Panthers on Friday in Jefferson.

Chad Fulton had two hits and scored three runs for the Indians.

Jackson County (1-0) plays host to Forest Park at noon and Johnson at 5 p.m today in Jefferson.

Lumpkin County visits Franklin County at 5:55 p.m. Monday in Carnesville.

WHITE COUNTY 11, FRANKLIN COUNTY 4: Warriors junior pitcher Luke Crumley, a University of Georgia verbal commit, had 12 strikeouts and only allowed two hits over four innings in a win Friday in Cleveland.

Adam Hooper, Dylan Lee and Cody Ansley each had two-run doubles in the third as part of a nine-run inning for White County.

White County plays host to Habersham Central at 1 p.m. today in Cleveland.

JEFFERSON 9, MADISON COUNTY 2 (Thursday): Jake Fields had a 4-for-5, three RBI night to lift the Dragons past Madison County on Thursday in Danielsville.

Fields also pitched five innings, giving up three hits and two runs while striking out nine.

Jefferson plays host to Madison County at 4 p.m. Thursday in Jefferson.

CEDAR SHOALS 5, EAST HALL 4 (Thursday): Desmon Gardner had two hits and scored a run for the Vikings (0-2) on Thursday in Gainesville. Drew Adams pitched six innings and recorded three strikeouts.

East Hall visits Union County at 1 p.m. today.

Tennis

LAKEVIEW GIRLS 4, PRINCE AVE. 1 (Thursday): Niki Patel, Jackie Burleson and Paige Atherton swept singles play for the Lady Lions on Thursday.

The doubles team of Cree Nix and Komal Patel won 6-0, 6-1 for Lakeview.

Lakeview Academy faces Flowery Branch at 4 p.m. Monday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 5, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0 (Thursday): Clayton Nedza, Eli LoCiero and Will Bennett all won in singles for the Trojans on Thursday.Jack Hortenstine/Joe Nedza and Charlie Hortenstine/Sam Taylor all won in doubles for North Hall.

North Hall (3-2, 2-0 Region 7A-AAA) next plays host to Gilmer, 4 p.m. Tuesday.
