Buford girls win 6-AA championship

Andraya Carter and Kristina Nelson each finished with 12 points for the Buford girls in a 45-39 win against Lovett to claim the Region 6-AA title Saturday in Decatur.

With the win, the Lady Wolves (21-7) await a home game against Kendrick in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs at a time still to be determined Saturday in Buford.

Leading late, Maya Dillard secured the win for Buford by making all four shots at the free throw line in the final minute of the game. Buford is still playing without starter Mackenzie Darrah, who is currently sidelined with a dislocated hip.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 32, CUMBERLAND CHRISTIAN 31: Nicole Ball and Julianne Sutton each scored eight points as the North Georgia Christian girls won the ICSGA Class 1-A state championship Saturday at Columbus State University.

With the win, the Lady Chargers have two state titles in the past three seasons.
