The North Georgia Christian Lady Chargers defeated the visiting Westside Warriors 56-9 in the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama substate play-in game on Thursday night in Flowery Branch.

The Lady Chargers were led by Liz Wethington’s nine points, while Nicole Ball, Jana Butler, Sarah Rhodes and Julianne Sutton had eight points each.

With the win, the Lady Chargers advance to the ICSGA Final Four and will play again next Thursday in the tournament at Columbus State University in Columbus.


GAINESVILLE GIRLS 5, NORTH FORSYTH 0: The Lady Red Elephants tennis team swept North Forsyth on Thursday in Gainesville.

Brinkley Frankum won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles spot for Gainesville. At No. 2 singles, Georgia Summer won 6-0, 6-0, and Katherine Wright won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Morgan Mercer and Lauren Carter won 6-0, 6-0, and Martha McKinnon and Katherine Anderson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Gainesville plays host to White County at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Gainesville.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 5, NORTH FORSYTH 0: The Gainesville boys team also swept the Raiders on Thursday in Gainesville.

Jackson Goble won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for the Red Elephants, and Graham McKinnon defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Reagan Williams also won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Billy Jackson and Nick Dillard won 6-3, 6-3, and at No. 2 doubles, Trevor Munn and Charles Calkins grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

The Red Elephants play host to White County at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Gainesville.


JOHNSON BOYS 4, WINDER-BARROW 1: Luis Del Toro scored a goal and picked up a pair of assists to lead Johnson to a 4-1 win over Winder-Barrow on Thursday in Oakwood.

Jonathan Mendoza had a goal and an assist, and Luis Hernandez and Fidel Rodriguez each scored goals for the Knights (2-0). Israel Avila notched an assist.

Johnson visits Archer on Tuesday in Lawrenceville.
