High school scoreboard: East Hall boys shoot past Johnson

The East Hall boys basketball team made 13 3-pointers and cruised to a 77-63 win against Johnson on Saturday at East Hall.

Tied 17-17 after the first quarter, the Vikings (9-5, 3-1 Region 7B-AAA) outscored the Knights 24-15 in the second quarter.

J.C. Hampton finished with a game-high 18 points for East Hall and Kevin Blackwell added 12. Also in double figures for the Vikings were Ashton Cheeks with 11 points and Kymon Woods with 10.

Charles Perry finished with seven points and six rebounds for East Hall, and Chaz Cheeks added four points and five rebounds.

Matt Hollis led led Johnson (6-4, 2-1) with 17 points. Tre Dudley had 14 points, and Ty Odem added 12.

Johnson plays host to West Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Hall visits Lambert at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

EAST HALL GIRLS 75, JOHNSON 34: The Lady Vikings (10-4, 4-0 Region 7B-AAA) took charge early with 27 points in the first quarter and extended their lead to 46-10 by halftime.

Jasmine Jenkins led East Hall with 14 points and Morgan Jackson added 12. Haley Chapman and Jalisa Stephens each finished with 10 for the Lady Vikings.

Lyndsey Pethel led Johnson with nine points.

Johnson plays host to West Hall at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Oakwood. East Hall visits Lambert at 7 p.m. Friday in Suwanee.

BUFORD GIRLS 71, BLESSED TRINITY 45: The Buford girls basketball team finished with four scorers in double digits and defeated Blessed Trinity on Saturday night in Buford.

Andraya Carter finished with a game-high 17 points for Class AA’s second-ranked Lady Wolves (10-0, 3-0 Region 6-AA). Alysha Rudnik scored 16, Sherese Williams finished with 11 and Taylor Tate scored 10 for Buford.

Buford led 17-5 after the first quarter, and 34-16 at halftime.

Buford visits Greater Atlanta Christian at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Lilburn.
JEFFERSON GIRLS 52, COMMERCE 21: Bethany Whitlock scored a game-high 15 points for the Lady Dragons (3-10) on Saturday in Commerce. Stephanie Fincher added 10 points for Jefferson.

Jefferson faces Walnut Grove at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Commerce plays host to Athens Academy at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 66, GALLOWAY 46: Stephen Scaife scored a team-high 15 and Tyler Dominy added 13 for the Tigers (13-3) on Saturday in Atlanta. Levi Wilson chipped in with 12 points for Dawson County.

Mike McFarland scored a game-high 19 points for Galloway.

Dawson County plays host to Union County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dawsonville.
