The Banks County girls emerged victorious in the Commerce Holiday Tournament after a 60-52 win against Madison County in the championship game on Tuesday.

Kaitlyn Duncan put up 24 points for the Lady Leopards (12-2) and was named tournament MVP.

Allison Smith notched 13 points. Paige Mathis earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

Banks County plays host to East Jackson at 4 p.m. Saturday in Homer.

BUFORD GIRLS 46, EFFINGHAM COUNTY 45: The Lady Wolves (9-3) earned third place at the Farm Bureau Insurance Classic at Dorman High School in South Carolina. Corey Staples was named to the all-tournament team.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 67, MADISON COUNTY 51: The Leopards also won the Commerce Holiday Tournament championship game on Tuesday.

Austin Venable, tournament MVP, finished the game with 17 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks. Zez Steeple also had 17 points for Banks County, and Zac Orr notched 11.

Orr was also named to the all-tournament team.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 48, MURFREESBORO CENTRAL (Tenn.) 37: Jackson Morgan led the Tigers with 13 points on Tuesday in the Mountain Top Classic in Lafayette, Tenn.

Levi Whitmire had 10 points. Dawson County fell to Wilson Central (Tenn.) 51-47 in the second round of the tournament yesterday.

The Tigers play host to Pacelli on Friday in Dawsonville.
