The Chestatee wrestling team won the third annual Clash for the Cup, defeating West Hall 57-18 on Tuesday at West Hall.

Jose Reyes (106 pounds), Bart Velazquez (113), Ausitn Donaldson (120), Taylor Albarado (126), Cody Etris (145), Kyle Wesley (152), Cody Humphries (170) and Malik Wesley (182) all recorded victories for Chestatee by pinning their opponents.

Dylan Brock (195) won in a decision for the War Eagles.

Chestatee competes next at Blessed Trinity at 5 p.m. on Friday.

EAST HALL TAKES THREE IN QUAD-MATCH: The Vikings came away with victories over Towns County 45-36 and George Walton Academy 48-17 on Tuesday. East Hall dropped its dual against Riverside Military Academy 45-26.

Sophomore, Jerrod Rodgers (160 pounds) scored pins in all three duals. Other victories for East Hall came from C.J. Guadlock, Robert Williams, Felton Wood, Edward Vergara, Carlos Negron, Travis Foster, Kintavious Johnson, Tyler Thomas, J.D. Holloway and Gabriel Yopp.

The Vikings compete on Friday at Lumpkin County’s John Smith Mountain Classic.

DAWSON COUNTY SPLITS TRI-MATCH: The Tigers won their first match against White County 44-33 before dropping their second match to Lumpkin County 42-30 on Tuesday.

James Evans (126 pounds), Cory Jenkins (132), Larry Adams (160), Joseph Toal (195), and Joshua Gee (220) won both of their mathces.

Anthony Underwood (106) and Levi Pressley (145) beat their White County opponents.

Basketball

GILMER  GIRLS 62, DAWSON COUNTY 56: The Lady Tigers fell behind by 15 in the second half but pulled as close as three points in the fourth quarter before losing on Tuesday in Ellijay.

Carly Gilreath recorded a team-high 16 points and four assists for Dawson County. The Lady Tigers’ Kacie Bearden made five 3-pointers and finished the game with 15 points.

Dawson County hosts Lumpkin County at 7 p.m. on Friday.
