The Chestatee girls basketball team took a 25-12 lead into halftime and withstood a 31-point second half from Union County to earn the 49-43 win Friday in Gainesville.
Peyton Robertson had a game-high 19 points for Class AAA’s third-ranked Chestatee (5-0).
Rachel Kelley and Emily Crain each scored 11 points for the Lady War Eagles, with Kelley adding 10 rebounds and Crain having five.
Robertson and Melissa Bailey each had nine rebounds for Chestatee, which visits Pickens at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 39, OCONEE COUNTY 38: Aleayah Hendrix hit four fourth-quarter free throws to give the Lady Red Elephants the close win Friday in Watkinsville.

JEFFERSON GIRLS 54, COMMERCE 19: Led by Kellie Goza’s 11 points, the Lady Dragons won Friday in Jefferson.
Sylar Evanson added nine points for Jefferson (5-2), which visits North Oconee at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Jasmine Grier had a game-high 14 points for Commerce (3-1), which visits Hart County at 4 p.m. Dec. 17.
JEFFERSON BOYS 74, COMMERCE 69: Despite being outscored 25-20 in the final quarter, the Dragons hung on to win Friday in Jefferson.
Austin Thompson had a game-high 19 points for Jefferson (4-3), while David Watson scored 13 and Hoytes Damons added 11.
