The Chestatee girls basketball team took a 25-12 lead into halftime and withstood a 31-point second half from Union County to earn the 49-43 win Friday in Gainesville.

Peyton Robertson had a game-high 19 points for Class AAA’s third-ranked Chestatee (5-0).

Rachel Kelley and Emily Crain each scored 11 points for the Lady War Eagles, with Kelley adding 10 rebounds and Crain having five.

Robertson and Melissa Bailey each had nine rebounds for Chestatee, which visits Pickens at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Aleayah Hendrix hit four fourth-quarter free throws to give the Lady Red Elephants the close win Friday in Watkinsville.

Rebecca Webster scored a game-high 19 points for Gainesville (4-4, 1-0 Region 8B-AAA), which visits Franklin County at 7 p.m. Dec. 17.

Quan Holcomb scored 13 points and Shaquan Cantrell added 10 to lead the Red Elephants to the win Friday in Watkinsville.

Gainesville (5-2, 1-0 Region 8B-AAA) visits Franklin County at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 17.

JEFFERSON GIRLS 54, COMMERCE 19: Led by Kellie Goza’s 11 points, the Lady Dragons won Friday in Jefferson.
Sylar Evanson added nine points for Jefferson (5-2), which visits North Oconee at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Jasmine Grier had a game-high 14 points for Commerce (3-1), which visits Hart County at 4 p.m. Dec. 17.

JEFFERSON BOYS 74, COMMERCE 69: Despite being outscored 25-20 in the final quarter, the Dragons hung on to win Friday in Jefferson.

Austin Thompson had a game-high 19 points for Jefferson (4-3), while David Watson scored 13 and Hoytes Damons added 11.

The Dragons visit North Oconee at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tyler Gamble and Bubba Bonds each scored 14 points to lead Commerce (4-1).

Channing Anderson added 12 points for the Tigers, which visit Hart County at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 17.

LOGANVILLE GIRLS 46, FLOWERY BRANCH 40: Dani Lacko scored 10 points for the Lady Falcons in the loss Friday in Loganville.

Flowery Branch hosts Chestatee at 7 p.m. Dec. 17.

TOWNS COUNTY GIRLS 57, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 19: Mona Abraham had a team-high eight points as the Lady Lions fell Friday in Gainesville.

Lakeview Academy (0-3) hosts Providence Christian at 7 p.m. Dec. 17.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 68, TOWNS COUNTY 50: Austin Pearson and Matt Askounis each scored 10 points to lead the Lions to the win Friday in Gainesville.

Nick Drury added nine points and Austin Montgomery, Trevor Price and Andrew Wells each scored eight for Lakeview (3-3, 1-1 Region 8-A), which hosts Providence Christian at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 17.

Towns County’s Brandon Henderson led all scorers with 13 points, while D.J. Rogers and Bradley Swanson each added 12 for the Indians, which hosts Hiawassee Dam at 7:30 tonight.
