The Buford High softball team defeated Peachtree Ridge 2-0 on Thursday in pool play of the Hawk Bulldog softball tournament in Hoschton.

Melissa Dickie earned the win, pitching all seven innings, striking out six and walking only one.

Whitney Wolfe was 2-for-3 with a run, and Chelsie Thomas was 1-for-3 with a run and stolen base.

The Lady Wolves (2-1) will play Creekivew on Friday at 8 p.m. in the final day of pool play before Saturday’s medal rounds of the 20-team tourney.

JEFFERSON 10, HART COUNTY 2: Anna Alexander and Summer Bartek each had four hits for the Lady Dragons (4-2, 1-0 Region 8-AA) on Thursday in Hartwell. Catherine Knight added a pair of hits and an RBI for Jefferson. Morgan

McKinney earned the win by pitching 6 2/3 innings and allowed only four hits and a pair of runs.

Volleyball
LADY FALCONS SPLIT TRI-MATCH: Flowery Branch beat Habersham Central (25-16, 25-15) and lost to Lambert (25-15, 25-18). Alexis Love finished with five kills and Kenzie Grewett had five assists in the Lambert match. Against Habersham Central, Kathryn McMillin had seven kills, Bekki Benton had four kills and two blocks, Brittani Hill had four aces, Grewett had 10 assists and Love had five kills.

The Lady Falcons are 1-1 on the season.

WEST HALL WINS TWO: Laykin Herford had 31 assists and Gracie Allison added 11 kills for the Lady Spartans in wins against East Jackson (21-25, 25-13, 25-20) and Walnut Grove (25-18, 25-14). Nicolette Ashley had 13 digs, five aces for West Hall, and Tonya Bennett added eight kills. Julie Walsh had six aces for West Hall (7-3). The Lady Spartans face Lanier and Meadowcreek on Tuesday in Buford.

LADY WOLVES SWEEP TRI-MATCH: Buford defeated North Hall (31-29, 25-22) and Chestatee (25-8, 25-12) in Gainesville to improve to 8-2 on the season. Jenna Falletta had 27 assists, Liz Darden had 34 digs and Maggie Roper had 14 kills.

LAKEVIEW SPLITS AT NORTH OCONEE: Lakeview Academy beat Athens Christian (25-10, 25-17) and lost to North Oconee (25-14, 25-12), moving to 3-7 on the season in Bogart. Molly Gay had six assists, Jamie Nixon had four kills and Katie Zottnick had two aces.

LADY DRAGONS SWEEP TRI-MATCH: Jefferson beat Archer (25-16, 25-18) and George Walton Academy (25-21, 23-25, 25-16) to improve to 8-1 on the season. Amanda Daniel had 37 assists, six aces and four kills, Cassie Metcalf had five kills and seven aces, Taylor Cramsey had 18 kills and Edin Starnes had seven kills.

“Sarah Wood didn’t put up a lot of stats, but she played a real good match,” Jefferson coach Mike Paul said.

GAINESVILLE LOSES TO LADY RAIDERS: North Forsyth defeated Gainesville (25-21, 25-22) in Coal Mountain. The Lady Red Elephants are 0-1 and play Tallulah Falls on Tuesday.
