High school scoreboard: Brown breaks schools scoring record in Lumpkin County win

With her team-high 21 points in Lumpkin County’s 48-41 win over West Forsyth on Saturday in Dahlonega, Lady Indians’ senior Ashley Brown now owns the school scoring record.

Brown, who also had seven steals in the game, broke the old record of 1,352 points in the third quarter on her 10th point of the game, the record now stands at 1,364 points.

Down four points at the start of the third quarter, Lumpkin County (3-11, 1-4 Region 7A-AAA) outscored West Forsyth 27-16 in the second half to pull out the win Saturday night in Dahlonega.

Cara Malone had 15 points and three steals for the Lady Indians.

Lumpkin County returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at North Hall.

E.J. Young led the Indians with 18 points and Austin Tolbert added 12 in Lumpkin County’s win Saturday night in Dahlonega.

The Indians (8-6, 3-2 Region 7A-AAA) next play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Hall.

Flowery Branch girls 36,
North Hall 33

Cashmere Champion led the Lady Falcons with 13 points and Jessica Harper added 10 in their win at North Hall on Saturday night.

North Hall (6-11, 1-1 Region 7A-AAA) was led by freshman Taylor Tate with nine points and fellow freshman McKenna Rushton with eight.

Flowery Branch (4-10, 0-2 Region 7B-AAA) next plays host to West Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday while North Hall plays host to Lumpkin County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Flowery Branch held a four-point advantage at the half, but held North Hall to just two points in the third quarter to run away with the game Saturday night at North Hall.

Ishmael Hollis led the Falcons (7-7, 1-1 Region 7B-AAA) with a game-high 17 points. Rashad Tate added 16 and Phillips Chau had 10.

North Hall (10-5, 4-0 Region 7A-AAA) was led by Kanler Coker with eight points.

Flowery Branch returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to West Hall. North Hall next plays at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to Lumpkin County.

Hart County girls 56, Johnson 53

The Lady Knights were up by one with 40 seconds left before the Lady Bulldogs hit four straight free throws to steal the win Saturday night at Johnson.

Shelly Farley led Johnson (0-11) with 16 points, Ansley Benefield added 12.

Johnson next plays host to West Forsyth at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Johnson boys 62, Hart County 58

Trailing 45-40 going into the fourth quarter, the Knights outscored Class AAA’s 10th ranked Bulldogs 22-13 in the final period to get the win Saturday night at Johnson.

Devaris Finch led Johnson with 18 points, Brandon Finch had 12 and Chris Henry added 11. Tre Dudley had 13 rebounds for the Knights (9-6, 1-1 Region 7B-AAA) who beat their second ranked opponent in as many nights. Johnson bested No. 6 West Hall 58-51 on Friday night.

Johnson returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to West Forsyth.

Oconee County girls 40,
Jefferson 32

Tania Tauiliili led Oconee County with 16 points in its win Saturday night at Jefferson.

The Lady Dragons (3-13, 1-0 region 8B-AA) led 7-6 after the first before being outscored 34-25 over the next three quarters.

Emily Jacobs led Jefferson with 13 points.

The Lady Dragons next play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Banks County.

Oconee County 45

J.J. Damons led Jefferson with 14 points in its win Saturday night at Jefferson.

After a low-scoring first half had the score 14-11 in favor of the Dragons at halftime, Jefferson exploded for 22 points in the third quarter to take control of the game and get the win.

The Dragons return to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Banks County.
