High school scoreboard: Banks County hands Lakeview first loss

The Banks County High baseball team handed Lakeview Academy its first loss of the season, 10-3, on Saturday in Gainesville.

Justin Gibbs led the Leopards (6-3) with a 3-for-5 day at the plate, two runs scored and two runs driven in. Bill Redmon earned the win for Banks County allowing only two earned runs in five innings, and was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases.

Stephen Smith and Kyle Smith each added two hits for the Leopards.

Brett Armour led the Lions with a solo home run and finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate.

Lakeview Academy visits Mount Pisgah at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Banks County plays host to Commerce at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Homer.

Gainesville 7, East Hall 6

The Red Elephants scored four runs in the final two innings to rally past East Hall on Friday at Ivey Watson Field.
Stephen Mason went 2-for-3 and Sloan Strickland went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Gainesville.

Erik Tarnacki picked up the win on the mound for the Red Elephants (6-5, 6-4 Region 7-AAA).

Gainesville visits White County at 5:30 p.m. Monday. East Hall (3-9, 2-8) plays host to North Hall at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

SOCCER

North Hall girls 6, Dalton 0

Led by a hat trick by Tess Patton, North Hall recorded its third shutout of the season Friday in Dalton.

Ali Souther, Ali Wright and Heather Strickland also scored for North Hall (9-2, 6-0 Area 7-AAA). Karen Carlton, Wright, Trice Sweet and Julia Matthews all had assists for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall’s defense allowed Dalton (5-2-1) no shots in the first half and only four overall.

North Hall visits Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Track

Clark bests personal record

North Hall senior Nolan Clark set a new school-record of 9 minutes, 37.4 seconds in the 3,200 meter and finished second overall at the Roswell Relays on Saturday. Clark’s time is 10.76 seconds better than his previous school record.

Cody Barger ran a personal best in the 3,200 with a 10:11 and placed fifth overall. North Hall’s distance medley relay team of Ty McCormack, Luis Gonzalez, Brandon Lawson and Clark placed second. The sprint medley team of Ben Satterfield, Jordan Chaffin, Darian Roman and Barger placed eighth overall. The Trojans’ 4 x 800 relay team of McCormack, Gonzalez, Barger and Clark finished eighth.
