Gentry's three-run home run powers Lady Indians to win

Lumpkin County’s Allison Gentry had a three-run home run and three RBIs to lead the Lady Indians to an 8-4 win over Monroe Area on Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Also contributing for Lumpkin County’s offense were Heather Williams, who went 2 for 4 with two stolen bases, and Morgan Wood, who was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Jace Armstrong was the winning pitcher for the Lady Indians.

Lumpkin County (7-4, 4-1 Region 8-AAA) travels to Walnut Grove on Sept. 8.

JEFFERSON 4, EAST JACKSON 0: Savannah Snapp picked up the win and allowed only three hits Tuesday in Jefferson. 

Reagan Sandy and Lindsey Miles each had two hits and scored a run for the Lady Dragons (5-10, 3-1 Region 8-AA), which plays host to North Oconee at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

Volleyball

GAINESVILLE SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: Lauren Carter had 14 digs and Grace Miller finished with 10 blocks for the Red Elephants (8-5, 2-0 Area 8-AAA) in a 14-25, 25-17, 25-4 win against Chestatee and 28-26, 25-23 win against Eastside on Tuesday.

Against Eastside, Kaylin Walden had 13 assists, and Anna Walker had nine kills.

Gainesville hosts Rabun County and North Forsyth today. 

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN STAYS UNDEFEATED: The Lady Chargers beat Covenant Christian Academy 25-8, 25-13, 15-25, 25-23 Tuesday night in Oakwood.

North Georgia Christian travels to Loganville to play Covenant Christian at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

NORTH HALL SPLITS TRI-MATCH: The Lady Trojans won their match against the host Walnut Grove 26-24, 31-29 on Tuesday night in Loganville. 

In their second mathch North Hall (6-7) lost to Monroe Area 20-25, 25-16, 21-25.

The Lady Trojans play at 5 p.m. in Flowery Branch on Thursday.

JOHNSON DROPS TWO MATCHES: Lady Knights’ Sophia Love had three kills and four assists in Johnson’s first match against Oconee 25-7, 25-14 on Tuesday night in Oakwood.

Lehavian Ratliff tallied four kills and five digs in the Lady Knights’ second match, which they lost to West Hall 25-14,026-24.

The Lady Spartans split with a loss to Oconee County 25-19, 25-8 and a win against Johnson. Stephanie Rowland led the way with 13 kills and four blocks for West Hall (10-1, 1-1), and Krista Welch added 10 digs. Laykin Herford finished with 21 assists for the Lady Spartans.

Johnson (3-9, 0-2 Region 8-AAA) hosts Gainesville and Lumpkin County at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

LADY VIKINGS LOSE TWO: Emily Hoggard had 14 digs, five kills and two blocks for East Hall in a loss to Pinecrest Academy 25-14, 25-21 and against Fellowship Christian 32-34, 25-14, 25-19 on Tuesday in Cumming.

Kara Hix finished with 27 digs, four kills and two assists for the Lady Vikings, and Tarryn Long chipped in nine kills, six digs and two assists.

East Hall visits Tallulah Falls at 5 p.m. Thursday.

LAKEVIEW FALLS IN TRI-MATCH: The Lady Lions lost to George Walton 25-22, 25-20 and to North Oconee 25-8, 25-21 on Tuesday. Lakeview Academy faces Hart County at 5 p.m. Thursday at East Jackson.
