The East Hall softball team opened with a win in Region 8-AA over the Fannin Lady Rebels County, 5-3 in eight innings on Thursday.
Harlee Grogan led the way in the pitching circle for the Lady Vikings (5-3-1) with a complete game, striking out four and surrendering five hits over eight innings.
The Lady Vikings were led offensively by Keri Jones who was 2 for 3 with a run scored and Holly Strickland, who was also 2 for 3 with an RBI.
East Hall will host Dawson County at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
JACKSON COUNTY 8, ELBERT COUNTY 0: Madison Whitmire went 4 for 4 with three singles, a triple, a run scored and two RBIs to lead the Lady Panthers (3-0 Region 8-AA) to victory in five innings on Thursday.
Kortnee Satterfield picked up the win while facing 20 batters and giving up three hits and striking out one.
Mason Garland went 3 for 4 with two singles, a double and one run scored for the Lady Panthers.
Jackson County host East Jackson at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.
FRANKLIN COUNTY 3, WHITE COUNTY 2: Callie McDonald went 2 for 3 as the Lady Warriors lost to Franklin County in walk-off fashion on Thursday.
Madison Turner 1 for 3 with a double and batted in all of White County’s runs.
McDonald pitched and gave up six hits and struck out one.
The Lady Warrior will host Johnson at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.
UNION COUNTY’S HUGHES GETS 800TH K: Angie Hughes got wins over Pickens County and Banks County this week.
Hughes recorded 18 strikeouts in the Lady Panthers’ 3-0 win over Pickens while Hannah Hughes went 2 for 3 at the plate with two runs and an RBI.
In their second game, Angie Hughes struck out 11 more batters and recorded her 800th career strikeout for Union County versus Banks County.
Hannah Hughes led the Lady Panthers offensively, going 3 for 4 with a grand slam.
Union County hosts Rabun County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
