Lakeview (4-2) beat Rabun County 25-13, 25-16 and Gainesville 15-25, 25-13, 26-24, to sweep a tri-match held at Gainesville on Monday.

Molly Gay had eight aces and seven assists to go along with Jamie Nixon’s eight kills to lead the Lady Lions in their match against Rabun County.

Gainesville (2-1) won their first match on the night with a win over Rabun County 25-12, 25-20.

Kaylin Walden had five assists, while Laura Beth Lorentz and Tiarra Hill each added five kills for the Lady Red Elephants.

In Lakeview’s win over Gainesville, the Lady Lions were led Nixon’s 12 kills and seven aces, along with Gay’s eight assists and three aces.

Walden tallied 31 assists and Anna Walker added 11 kills for the Lady Red Elephants.

Lakeview hosts East Jackson and Habersham Central at 5 p.m. today.

Gainesville plays again at 5 p.m. on Thursday in a quad-match with East Hall, Jackson County and Lumpkin County at East Hall Community Center.


JACKSON COUNTY WINS BRONZE DIVISION: Behind the strong arm of Kortnee Satterfield, the Lady Panthers went 4-2 during the weekend and won the Bronze Division at the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational.

Satterfield lost her first game, but won her next three appearances, which included one no-hitter and a one-hitter.
Haley Shinall also pitched well going 2-1 on the weekend, including a two-hit, eight-strikeout effort.

Offensively, Jackson County was led by Madison Whitmire who batted .476, scored eight runs, had 14 RBIs and homered five times in the six games.

Ashleigh Lance also had a solid weekend at the plate for the Lady Panthers, batting .545, scoring five times and knocking in five RBIs.

Jackon county travels to Hart County and will play at 5:55 p.m. today.

BUFORD IS RUNNER-UPS OF PLATINUM DIVISION: The Lady Wolves (3-5) lost 2-1 to Collins Hill, the 2010 Class AAAAA State Champions, after giving up the go-ahead-run in the bottom of the fifth inning in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational

For the tournament, senior Lexi Overstreet hit for a .688 average to go along with her 11 RBIs and three home runs, one of which was off the Class AAAAA Pitcher of the Year Collins Hill’s Kayla Floor in the championship game.

Buford senior Kallie Case also batted well at the invitational with a .556 batting average, a double, two triples, nine runs scored, and eight stolen bases.

The Lady Wolves play again at St. Pius X at 5 p.m. today.
