Kelsi Jones notched 39 kills for West Hall in their first win of the season against Athens Christian (25-20, 25-17) and a three-set loss to Gilmer (20-25, 25-20, 25-21) on Thursday.

Alli Busbee added 32 assists for the Lady Spartans, and Emily Grainger had 13 kills.

West Hall visits Gilmer for a tri-match with East Hall on Tuesday in Ellijay.

GAINESVILLE TAKES ONE: Alyssa Turner recorded eight aces, seven service points and seven kills for Gainesville in a win against Cedar Shoals (25-14, 25-18) and a loss to Habersham Central (25-18, 25-19) on Thursday in Athens.

Bethany Whitenton added 11 service points, five aces and four kills for the Lady Red Elephants (4-3, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAA), and Tanai Watson had 14 service points and 10 assists.

Gainesville plays host to North Hall and Winder-Barrow on Tuesday in Gainesville.

JEFFERSON SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: Grace Williamson led the charge for Jefferson with 12 aces, nine digs, six kills and a pair of assists in wins against Chestatee (25-23, 25-19) and Johnson (25-11, 25-21) on Thursday in Gainesville.

Abby Wood tallied 19 digs and eight kills for the Lady Dragons (5-3), and Paige Watson notched 14 assists and 10 digs. Lindsey Nilsen had six kills and two blocks.

For Chestatee, Grace Brown led with eight digs, seven kills and three aces. Tyler Bennett added 18 assists and eight kills for the Lady War Eagles, and Breezy Walker had 13 assists and six aces. Chestatee will participate in the Jefferson play day on Saturday.

Kelly Chance led Johnson with six digs and two aces, and Katie Williams added three aces, two kills and a block for the Lady Knights (1-5) who return to action in the Lumpkin County play day on Saturday in Dahlonega.

BUFORD SPLITS PAIR: Maggie Roper tallied 17 kills, 12 digs and three aces for the Lady Wolves (4-3) in a win against Mill Creek (27-25, 25-20) and a loss to Wesleyan (24-26, 25-27) on Thursday in Buford.

Gabby Curry added 10 kills, eight digs and five aces for Buford, and Bree Horrocks had six kills and four blocks. Setters Morgan Mitchell and Myra Sanchez combined for 32 assists.

The Lady Wolves play in the Brookwood play day on Saturday in Snellville.
